I bought my Grandson a Piettaa 1851 Confederate .44 & the only powder I could find in town (at the time) was Triple 7. I got home & found the warning on the can that said DO NOT shoot in a brass frame pistol. So I e-mailed the company & they said the same thing. They said best used in a rifle or shotgun. Luckily I found some old 2 F black that I had sitting around for 35 years or so. The recommended charge was 10 to 15 grains of black powder. So if I used like 8 to 10 grains of triple 7 would that be OK?

How do you determine how much a " Part" is, when mixing the solution?

Hey Dustin. I have a paper cartridge kit and do use it about half of the time I shoot my Ruger Old Arm .45cal revolver. I have a general query for you about these kits. …. Does using them gave any negative impact on the usual accuracy of your revolvers please? I have found it does, and I think it might be down to the paper getting between the lead of the bullets and the steel of the barrel rifling, but inconsistently i.e. not all the way round each bullet and not all the time… How do you find this way of reloading impacts on the accuracies of YOUR shot fall please?? Thank you, Steve.

I’m looking for information on an older black powder revolver I’ve had in my collection for a while. My mom traded a cb radio for it in the 70’s. It’s Italian, looks like DGG mark on it. I can’t find any info on the age or value. If you or anyone else in here could push me to the right place to find info I’d appreciate it.

I wonder how mini-shells would work in that shotgun? Those rounds would have less recoil.

SAME - I inherited an H&R 922 6" from my uncle. I shot that gun a ton when I was a little kid and boasted about how "cowboy" i was drawing it. Well my uncle left it to me and it is in my safe. Unfortunately the barrel is bent a bit but barrels for these things are all over ebay. I may or may not fix it, who knows. GREAT VIDEO!

Big question here: I've read that using Elmer's white glue is a no-no as it will permanently foul the barrel. Does the same apply to glue sticks over the long term? And, have you though of maybe switching over to water glass (sodium silicate) in your kits, or providing it through your store? Water glass is more historically accurate and high temperature resistant. Thanks!

Step 1 - disassemble barrel, cylinder, nipples, ramrod, most things besides hammer, grip and trigger Step 2 - wipe down excess factory oil with a rag Step 3 - degreaser (krud butter, simple green etc) to spray down to remove oil, get chamber and insides, anywhere with oil. Step 4 - screws and nipples in a small cup of degreaser Step 5 - let sit 2 minutes, then wipe clean with cloth Step 6 - use dry patches and a cleaning jag on rod through each cylinder chamber. Use a dry rag through the center of cylinder. Step 7 - dry qtip is used to get last bit of degreaser off Step 8 - wipe down rest of parts with cloth Step 9 - wipe inside barrel from breach to muzzle Step 10 - once all parts are dry, put a generous amount of ballistol on a rag and clean external parts. Use some q tips for to apply on nipples and cylinders. Step 11 - let soak 10 minutes. Step 12 - wipe off excess ballistol. One cleaning patch for 3 chambers, leaving a coat behind but not removing it cleaning. Step 13 - clean rag to finish up excess - LEAVE A SMALL COATING TO KEEP OILED. Step 14 - reassemble Step 15 - one last wipe down. Check out the guns of the west store- gunsoftheweststore.com Feel free to pin this comment or to copy it into your video description. I'm about to clean up some piettas. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience.

Love the Remmington! It shoots where I aim and the cylinder swaps out great especially the first few cylinders. I doubt most people are gonna buy more than two cylinders. My personal favorite though is the Pietta cattlemen two 1873 replica in black powder. You can actually change those cylinders out pretty fast with some practice.

The fore-end cap is a feature of Rifles and short rifles. The rifle you are holding actually has a carbine stock no doubt cheaper to manufacture than the crescent stock normally associated with rifles and short rifles

I need to order your kit. Just made my first batch today with a cheap Amazon kit, yours looks like it would be easier to use. Took an hour and 45 min to make 50 of em but by the end I was pumping them out pretty quick. I tried using a coffee filter like your other video but it was a mess. Stole my girlfriend’s rolling papers and that was the key.

Black powder stuff was so cheap years ago. AFTER we all bought black powder rifles and pistols, everything tripled in price, or, you can't find it. It's the American way.

My 3 are the 1851 Navy, the 1860 Army and the Dance Revolver. I love the look and feel of all of them in my hand. I do have remingtons, but mainly they are converted to 45 Colt. i have one of the never existed Remington buffalo models (12" barrel) and have adapted my 1860 Army shoulder stock to fit it as well. It is an impressive little tack driver and the shoulder stock really stays on it.

Sorry, this is a late question. I got over hear noise canceling range headphones, do you have recommendations for wearing a cowboy hat over it? Or should I just get some in ear protection? Also would a 3/4 duster or a full length be better? Teasing. Love your channel.

Thank you, Martin here in north central Washington , I have the exact twin and I will say it fits wonderful in a canvas full flap military surplus holster. I only bring that up because it's a great choice for a jeep glove box or your quad as a little survival instrument...I believe you learn to shoot more accurately as you get hungrier...lol. Great segment friend
