I’m a huge fan of what heritage has done for getting into shooting sports, because their cheap prices are just something that most others don’t even try to compete with. But as someone who goes paycheck to paycheck, I appreciate a product with low cost, especially when they have their good customer service. Seeing their product range expand is a wonderful thing!

I agree with this, I have quite a few “serious” guns but when wanting somthign single action and cheap to shoot I ordered a rough rider from cabalas, now over 1000 thoughts through two rangedays(I love rimfire lol) it’s still great and fun

@@popupheadlights The RR is the gun I use for anyone that has never been shooting before. Little recoil, single action so less chance of accidental discharge, cheap ammo and I don't care if it gets dinged up a bit, and it's just fun to shoot!

Been pretty much a Heritage fan for a while now, but $200 more than a Stoeger Coach? I think they're getting into a market above what most of their base has been. Even the Settler rifle is as much as, or more than, a comparable Henry. I hope they don't forget us down here. ;-)

You need to adjust your standards. You can't get anything for $200. You can get a junk Turkish made shotgun for that price. But it wont run reliably and will break after a few hundred shots. But you do you.

@@Just1American1966 Your complaining about a 200-dollar price difference on a niche shotgun. It's not for hunting and it's not for sport or self-defense. This is a impulse buy gun. I wouldn't buy either of these guns. But at least Heritage can put guns into stores that you can buy. So, the street price is probably lower. But my point is both of these guns are not worth it. Buy Mossberg if you hunt or a Benelli for defense.

@@FPS_miyagi I just checked Stoeger is $550 from Cabelas. And is in store only. You can't order one. Heritage has guns for sale at every gun store in America below MSRP and with available shipping. I sold my Heritage Rough Rider because I just never shot the thing. Also sold my .38 Special Model 15 revolver. Wound up buying a 1997 Ruger Vaquero in .357 mag from the very same pawn shop that I bought the Model 15 from as my first handgun nearly twenty years ago. I had to pair it with my Henry Big Boy in the same caliber. My 8 year old son is into the cowboy phase. We went to Six Gun Territory here in Florida recently, although it is still a shell of its former self. I also wanted a double barrel shotgun, but that 12 gauge and torn shoulders from military service is brutal. I found a 1924 L.C. Smith 20 gauge this year after a newly made side by side from "that Jacksonville FL Turkish guy," as the pawn shop owner called him, proved to be impossible to open. It wasn't a Heritage brand, but some off the wall name. My eight year old loves the 20 gauge side by side and has shot many a shell through it. I think it has a 26" barrel. I have no idea what chokes it has built in. He loves it because it is light enough for him to wield.

Just for anyone watching who is perhaps unfamiliar with shotguns or firearm construction: Top levers will almost always be slightly off centre to the right on a new or little used gun. It is not a fault and does not require 'breaking in' as such, or adjustment. Just lightly lubricate all the metal to metal parts and faces to aid smoother opening and closing. It just indicates the action is tight and correctly fitted. Over time, the more the gun has been shot, the more the lever will eventually start to line up with the centre of the action. Any older guns that have had a long hard life will likely have a sloppy and centred top lever. At that point, the gun should undergo some major maintenance and repair to tighten up the action. I have seen two very old side by sides that were so worn, the levers over centred to the left on closing and felt slightly slack! The owners of both these guns were still happily using them, blissfully unaware of the potential risks.....until I explained they should be checked over by their gunsmith! (One ended up as a serviced and repaired gun, the other was so dangerous throughout, that it had to be scrapped!) Never be tempted to shoot a loose actioned gun. This thing looks a lot of fun, but sadly due to its short barrel length, would be illegal here in the UK unless held on a section one firearms certificate. 😞

I love my heritage rough rider pistols, My first one I bought I have shot at least a thousand rounds threw it without cleaning it once and it stills functions perfectly, I do not normally due that to any gun ever but I wanted to debunk the myth of them not being so great, So now I have two more in my collection of .22s. Great video but I think my old savage double 16 gauge is going to be cut down to 20", its hammer less also and it was way less expensive than a turkey made double barrel shotgun and is American made in 1948. I just do not care for foreign made guns unless its Uberti, Peitta, Armi Italian old western gun replicas.

It will loosen up a bit but will probably always be a bit stiffer than one with external hammers. The internal hammers are cocked when you open it so you are working against that spring tension when you are breaking it open. Oh and whatever you do, do NOT pull the triggers when the barrels have been removed. Getting it put back together after doing so will be a real pain if it is anything like my Stoeger. I made that mistake once and only once.

I'm not a fan of the Heritage revolver line for a couple of reasons, but this shotgun looks pretty interesting and would probably make the list. For some reason, break-open shotguns run expensive compared to pump or even semi-automatic, and I don't believe it's due to fancy engraving but, rather, to niche. An (assumed) inexpensive shotgun like this will become a big deal and can open the door for other lower-priced competition. I look forward to your range vid. Thanks!

Do "Vang Comp" 18.5' double barrel that is also threaded for chokes and rated 3 inch mag. I'd buy that for novelty and possibly utility. Run of the mill double barrel = 0% interest

Is this cool? Yes. My question is who is this marketed towards? Heritage has been deeply rooted for decades as a "cheap gun" company. This, being a Turkish shotgun from a "cheap gun" company retailing at or over $800? HARD pass, for me. That price is not justifiable, and should be half that considering the wild range of Turkish shotgun quality reports. I cannot see these selling well, and as much as we need more coach gun options on the market, finding a used E.R. Amantino for less than half the cost of this gun that is undeniably made of better steel and materials is still the best option.

I believe they make longer barrels that interchange on the stock.

It'd be interesting to see how it compares to the Stoeger coach gun. I know the Heritage retails for a good bit more.

It seems a lot of shotguns are made in Turkey these days. shotguns seem to come with either too short or too long stocks! lol I would like to see them come out with a version with 28 or 30 inch barrels. Maybe a 20 gauge with 26 inch barrels? Choked Modified and improved cylinder. Or choke tubes. It would be an awesome gun for waterfowl or upland game.

You didn't mention whether it comes with Ejectors or extractors. You also didn't mention what it's Choke Options are. Handy size for Rabbit hunting .

Congratulations!! That is a sharp looking coach gun. I own a few Heritage products and they've been great, I really appreciate the value they bring to the table. To be honest, this shotgun looks nicer than what I was expecting from Heritage. I mean that in the best way possible. Being that it is made in Turkey I have some immediate concerns about durability though. Yes, it will break in nicely, there should be no real concern with anything feeling a little tight right now. Are you worried about the "matte" finish and how it will hold up over time and how it will look when sweat, oils, etc., come in contact with it? It would make a really nice hanger on the wall behind you for sure. It is a great looking shotgun and it is very hard to find a good looking coach gun for a decent price today. It's seems as if they've become trendy and a decent one is usually overpriced compared to just a couple of years ago. It would be great to see how it handles high brass, slugs, etc.. It is a beautiful coach gun and I'm looking forward to your future videos with it.

Enabler ;) Black powder in bras hulls for me. It would be nice to see you working up a load. Any mention of chokes, or did I miss it? I can't find the info on their site.
