Excellent video like always! I ended up buying one of these for my collection and the quality is phenomenal for the price. Very tight 1911! Only upgrade I have done is replace the recoil spring with Wilson Combat's 17lb flat wire recoil spring. Look forward to seeing your next video on the Defender Series!

I have one and love mine. In a lot of ways it reminds me of the original gunsight service pistol. The only upgrade i plan on doing is a Harrison retro rear sight or the the 10-8 performance nm rear sight. I like Jeff coopers idea of keeping it simple.

I brought one from buds gun shop online to my ffl. Took it out shot it very accurate and reliable. Not sure I want to change anything but maybe a set of rosewood American legend grips I ordered 2 8 round Kimber mags off eBay for $14 each. It's a real shooter. Please keep us posted please Sir.

I tell you, this pistol is very accurate for a 1911 that retails for under $500. I will do some upgrades to it, but this barrel is staying put, IMHO, this pistols shoots better than I do!!

Is the Defender different from the Mil Spec? They look very similar to me? Please enlighten me? I’m a newbie w/1911’s(45acp)

They are the same, the Defender line was put out as a Lower Cost, this is when Springfield stopped using the BIG Plastic Pistol Boxes. The Defender shipped on a plain Cardboard Box, a Lock and only one magazine. I don't think they have this series anymore, at least not for the price I got it for.

Because I like to customize 1911's, this one will be reminiscent of the original Gunsite Pistol as per Jeff Coopers specs!!

Spent the past few months researching for a 1911 basic military style...Had my eyes on the Auto Ordnance - however I'm not sure I'd like those low profile sights...Did get the chance to handle the Springfield 1911 Defender - it'll probably be my next purchase!

I think it's all about personal taste. I'm partial towards Springfield. I'm not looking at price. If price is a concern, then pick the one that fits your budget. I prefer the Build quality from Springfield.

What do you mean by Tighter?? IF you want to see what can be done to it, look at my series of Videos "Pocket Friendly Springfield Armory 1911 Project". We just finished the project and I'm shooting the last Video today!! We also did a Video on customizing one of these into a Gunsite Pistol Tribute.

This is more like the Mil Spec, which is only made in the 5" Configuration, but I see your point and I wonder that too...

Yamil R. Sued yeah those trolls that are ignorant with their comments don’t deserve the time of your reply. Yeah that’s why I think people like your channel because your just a regular guy who understands that he will always be learning things and helps, with your vids, those that don’t know as much and/or can learn a new trick or tip. I was a gunners mate in the military and I’ve worked on guns since I was 10 and there’s A LOT that I don’t know and the way you explain things is how regular people can pick it up the quickest. You also do that without the unnecessary rambling on that some do and without an ego like some others do. Most don’t, but there’s a couple 😂 Like Paul Harrell, you should have A LOT more followers than you do and in time, you will!
