NO PROBLEM! $500.00 for 30 minutes. IF you happen to catch him at the range, just killing time. Interupting his practice, FORGET IT! He seems like a really nice guy, but he is a professional earning a living.

The self defense guy will probably be dead with his style of reload and less focus on time.....

I entered Rob's score into PractiScore and his hit factor was 11.5942, and assuming single stack (which is Major factor only), his percentage still came to 100.

Good stuff. Really liked the close up slo mo of Rob's grip and trigger movement. I was kinda surprised that it looks like his finger comes all the way off the trigger.

That was fun to watch. Yes most upper level shooters do slap the trigger when squeezing for more speed. It can be difficult to do though at longer distance targets and not disturb sight alignment.
@noctorous2977

you always train to fully come off the trigger. if your pull is disturbing sights you gotta practice more

Rob teaches that slowly releasing the trigger tp reset IS SLOW. Get off the trigger fast and slap it without moving the gun

I don't agree with not going for time on self defense stuff. Timer induces stress and will make you want to try harder to get it done and more likely to bobble things as well as providing meaningful data he can work to improve on. If he can make all of those shots clean without stress from a timer I don't see the point in not using a timer.

This s where the old saying "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" comes into play. In a self defense situation the first person to put rounds on target wins not the first person to fire. Train for technique and speed will come naturally, this is true for just about anything not just shooting.
@TheHumbleMarksman
@TheHumbleMarksman 7 жыл бұрын
I'm going to be candid and I'm not being aggressive with you but purely with the idea that "smooth is fast" silliness. Smooth is just smooth. Smooth can be slow, and smooth can be fast. Most fast guys will be smooth, but fast can not be smooth sometimes. Developing speed comes from pushing speed, making the wheels come off, forcing your body to process information faster and forcing you to understand where the hiccups in your technique are coming from then addressing them. Speed doesn't necessarily come naturally, in my own training I've had to force it in a lot of instances. Kind of like how most shooters coming from IDPA to USPSA are often significantly slower. They've never forced themselves to be fast.

A lot of good that's going to do if you could hit someone in between the eyes if they out draw you and put one in your gut and one in a lung. It's not a mutually exclusive relationship, you can have rock solid fundamentals of accuracy AND be fast. Most guys who are legitimately fast - not just having spasms for instagram can do both.
@urcarrion4713
@urcarrion4713 6 жыл бұрын
If the object is to be fast and accurate must train with the timer. And whoever said smooth is just smooth not fast is wrong. You must be smooth to be fast. Smooth purposeful economical movement and accurate shooting will garner you a good time in competitive shooting and if it was a real-world situation best off executing similarly.

@ArmoredAlgebra

Yes. Pro shooters take their fingers off of the trigger to reset them. It is how all great shooters shoot fast. I know how weird it sounds, but it’s the best way to shoot. The key is in the squeeze, but if you ride the reset out that trigger while shooting that fast, you are gonna throw shots. The key to good trigger pull is not “slow stready squeeze” as much as it is pull consistently. John Lovell has a great video on it over in warrior poet society. But I am a sponsored shooter, and I had to learn this technique, and it is what works.
@jado4149
@jado4149 2 жыл бұрын
@@ArmoredAlgebra pro shooters have multiple levels of trigger control depending on the accuracy requirement of the particular shot. Lovell could never shoot like Rob because he has no clue what trigger control is.
@stephencolley334

To @@ArmoredAlgebra You are SOOO wrong on SOOO many points. Only thing correct is that "most" top shooters do not ride the trigger to reset. Before you broadcast your "knowledge", get some.

It's ok to be trained as a shooter, meaning to be fast and accurate...but you can not simulate a real life gun fight if there isn't a live skilled shooter on the other side, against you... I agree with shooting targets but that is only basic of shooters knowledge and skill... Sory if i had typing errors in text!

I don't agree with loading less than what your magazine allows. Train how you fight, and if you train yourself to reload after six when your gun holds eight...you lose a round. More importantly you lose a second or two.

Dellacondan not the second round where he states that he will be doing the same drill but from a concealed carry point of view. My point is if you train that way then your muscle memory will be wrong when it counts.

It's also an opportunity to train on your reloads. Also the El Presidente was created back in the revolver days, so that's why 6 reload 6. It's still a staple in the competition world today.
