The dudes you see wearing gear are usually POST certified and are also teaching LE. Which is why they wear the gear. If you’re a cop teaching cops how to shoot you should probably be wearing something reminiscent of what your students will be wearing when they get into a gunfight.

Stoeger is the man. You’ll learn a ton from him, and he speaks in plain, simple terms. He doesn’t try to look like a badass, which is a welcome change.

Being fast vs feeling fast -- applies to all forms of racing, handgun or car or alpine skis. Great stuff, thanks Ben.

Same with combat sports. Feeling fast/powerful vs being relaxed and having great fundamentals.

He says and teaches things that seem obvious to me, but may not be obvious to some. "Being fast" and "feeling fast" is one of those observations.

Cannot thank you enough for all these videos. Took a class from you in NH a few years ago. I did not belong in the class but the one thing i got from you was you told me to dry fire. I was new to the game so really didn't understand..... I have been dry firing every day and have made some good progress. Thank you.

WAIT! this is a compliment! Not too many instructors will make a little foo-pah, turn around and stick their tongue at you followed by a correct execution of the drill! 👏👏👏👏 Plenty of my colleague instructors in LE would need to step off to gather their thoughts......👏👏👏👏

I would have had a GM run instead of an M run in a recent classifier, had I simply heeded this advice. You really do want to focus on a small spot, especially on the "easy" targets. I had to take three make up shots because I disrespected the big bright metal target. Eric Grauffel said this sport is the "art of focus" and he isn't wrong. Great vid Ben.

It’s a little hard to tell distances from the vid. Is closest about 5 yd and the longest about 15?

Ha ha! I learned “equal height, equal light” and it ruined me. I’ve had to re learn acceptable sight picture and let it go. This turtle had to replace fins with wheels, and life is much better, with a long way to go but way more fun. Ben’s info is great and I plan on a class when possible.

This is awesome as I am getting into adding dots to pistols. Thankfully I have done enough practice draws that finding the dot hasn’t been an issue so far. Excited to start practicing the transition from target to target.

For the USPSA metric targets if I have a target that has an occluded A zone can I just shoot the head A zone or would it be better to go for the small occluded A zone?

Ben, It’s my third year of USPSA, I’d shoot 12-15 ,matches per year, do one level two per year. I have a huge problem with skipping targets during stages. I help setup on my local matches and get stage plans days in advance and don’t have that problem but if I travel and have limited time to plan, I run right past targets. Last match I did it twice, easy stages not high round counts. Please can you share your stage planning/ visualization process. Many thanks in advance.

what are the target distances
@AlexanderSotelo7 ай бұрын
Looks to be about 7 up front, 10 to the partial and about 15 to the steel and the back target. In yards, give or take. The distances he used doesn’t really matter. What matters is that you vary the distance between each target so that the transitions are diverse.

great video! would love to hear thoughts on dot size/style and whether blooming a small dot, like the 2MOA on the 507 comp, is advisable. You see a big dot sooner but blooming can be distracting I feel, but a small dot is harder to find and takes longer to find, especially on fast transitions
