I agree 💯% mate! Shrimp are one of the coolest pets you can keep in your freshwater tank in my opinion. 😊💙

For some reason orange and yellow Neo's always seem to be the most prolific, even more than the classic Cherry :0

That’s interesting - in this setup, the orange Sakura shrimp had a head start though. I put them in this tank earlier this year and after around 2-3months I saw the first baby shrimp. I really hope they mix with the blue and red/white ones. 😇

What is the green plant that is all around the tank?
@naturalaquariums7612 күн бұрын
You are probably referring to hygrophila corymbosa stricta, right? They do extremely well and are easy to propagate. In my last video about this tank I explained in detail how to propagate it.

Looking good mate, is that the Hygro Coryemboas in the middle of the tank? I managed to find some here in the UK but its usually listed as "Giant Hygro" even though its the exact same plant. Its been submerged for a while now but there's no real change in its emersed leaves yet but it looks like its melting :(

Cheers mate 🙏😇 Yes, it’s latin name is hygrophila corymbosa stricta - this plant grows really well. Also, they are very easy to propagate and relatively hard. For example, I did not use a heater at the beginning of this tank, nor CO2 - and still they grow insanely!

About the shooling behavior ! I could observed the same thing when I got my first first neos and kept them in a 15 or 2o liter fish bowl (dirted and natural outlay) !!! They were swimming all together in one direction in the bowl like a carousel (very funny) ! I then asked my friend who gave me the shrimp if he had ever seen something like that before , and he enlightened me !!!! First of , shrimp do not shoal ! In fact one or more females had shed their exoskeleton (molting) , after this process the females release a pheromone which signals that she is ready for mating !!!! And then everybody was searching for a ...... you know.....!! Cheers from Greece !

Cheers Mate, that explains it quite well i think. If this is true (and i think it is, i checked wikipedia and it confirms what you were saying), it means my assumption of them schooling like fish/birds was wrong. Which neocaridina breeds /colors are you keeping :) ?
@HaraldRiezinger9 күн бұрын
For the moment only red cherry shrimp and blue velvet ! But i think next year i'll start with one or two more colors , maybe , just maybe, some sulawesi dennerli shrimp !!!

What is your favorite plant for water quality?
@naturalaquariums7614 күн бұрын
Cheers mate! I would say generally any plant that grows really fast, such as duckweed or hygrophila in this tank. Also, Java moss grows really quickly and takes all the excess nutrients from the algae😊
