Gurdjieff: Essence vs Personality

This is an introduction to Gurdjieff’s teachings of essence and personality.
“Man consists of two parts: essence and personality. Essence in man is what is
his own. Personality in man is what is ‘not his own.” - Gurdjieff -
In many spiritual traditions an important distinction is made between the essence or real
self of a human being and the secondary self or false personality - also Gurdjieff addressed this topic and the consequences of the development of both of them.

How do we live on this plane without personality and/or ego manifestations? Doesn't seem possible. ?

I feel like that the personality gets us through daily life while interacting with others but the main factor is that there is not a strong or no attachment that we don't cling to it. We just watch what happens. The mind is our friend once we know how to use it 😊
