Imo we need to get this anime back to the top. This was once rated as the best anime but now brother hood is higher. Brother hood is dope but it’s not this anime. This anime is nearly perfection... I hate to say it. But the best character in all of anime dying perfected the anime. The first quarter imo is kinda a drag rewatching... which I find crazy. Seeing kamina was my fav as a kid. He’s still the best anime character ever. Especially thanks to his final appearance... I don’t cry. This anime made me cry multiple times.

This was such a pivotal scene, really showing what's going on at this state. Dai-Gunzan was felled, and is effectively captured. Standing atop of it, almost as if defying its superiority, is Gurren. Sitting inside Gurren, Kamina simply at rest, satisfied Don't know why the fuck there's rain in this scene though, pretty sure the skies were clear that day.

I like the video that goes with this mix. But while this is the best "less opera" version I have heard, I now prefer the full opera version. It took me a while - at first I found the opera singing distracting and off-putting. I thought it was because I generally dislike opera, but now I realize, that it is SUPPOSED to be off-putting! ...at least at first. In episode 25 (the main version during Kittan's death- scene) notice that the opera singing comes in right when the obstacle is described. The opera is supposed to be dissonant because it is discussing the wrongness of the anti-spirals and all they stood for. But then later as he fully commits to his sacrifice and achieves victory (and thus completing his arc and seeing spiral power first-hand) there is a key-change and slight merge in the timing. And this time the opera singing is in sync, crescendoing into an ultimate convergence and apex of one of the most uplifting and inspirational moments I have ever seen and heard. This was only possible *because* the opera sounded wrong at first. So I implore anyone to go back and give the full version another chance. It's fair enough if you don't want to re-listen to something so "off" over and over, and it is a fair criticism if it takes you out of the moment. But in the end, you will be missing out on much of the euphoric epiphany of the conclusion of this masterpiece.

I've been on psychiatric meds since I was a kid. A psychologist said I should be institutionalized when I was 10. But thanks to my family and drive, I was able to be off all meds for a year when I was 21, took so much work and balls. It's still the proudest achievement of my life, above being a judo black belt and competing internationally, breaking wrestling records for my high school, getting a chemical engineering degree and running multiple student orgs while dealing with crippling back pain due to a collapsed disk in which I lost 15 pounds of muscle mass over 2 years and physical therapists and doctors told me there was nothing else they could do, but built back up and I'm running and lifting again. My dad once told me when I was struggling, "I always knew you'd be something great, or nothing at all", very real due to me almost killing myself a few times, and very profound. I grit my teeth and do the impossible, see the invisible and just continue to row, row, fight the power. I listen to this song every time I falter and every time I start a new chapter in my life. I've already done the impossible, already done more than I could have ever dreamed. I love it, I'm blessed and I'm working to make my drill pierce the heavens! Keep going, it gets better.
