I am a buddhist, and this video is very touching to me though. I have studied Sikhism and have come to realise just how stalwart yet peaceful a religion it is. There are many similarities to be drawn between the teachings of Guru Nanak and Siddhartha Gautama. Raab Rakha :))

@@JM-dp1nlformer Catholic, then Buddhist, now Sikh here. I feel the same too - I love Siddhartha Gautama and respect him as a revered Teacher who taught me the dharma and meditation before I found Vaheguru. Now I realise Vaheguru is in all beings 💙🙏 Vaheguru Ji. Dhan Guru Nanak Dhan Siddhartha Gautama Ji.

I'm catholic. I've question my religion many times. I've always love the positive energy that Buddhists and Sikhs have. I'm more spiritual then religious. But I was wondering do you have to be 100% Sikh to believe what they do? I don't want to forget about my religion because I do believe a lot of it. What I'm trying to ask is, is it wrong to be a catholic but also live somewhat like a Sikh or a Buddhist? And help would be much appreciated. Thanks
@simarjitkaur34118 жыл бұрын
You should enjoy your heritage of Catholicism and its beauty and you should definitely enjoy the spirituality of other religions like Sikhism and Buddhism. The wisdom of all religion only pushes us forward and in Sikhism it is a long journey but also very short- within a second, an action, to find God's Grace in this lifetime. Don't let labels get in the way.
@HawksFanForever7 жыл бұрын
Sikhism is more about 'the way of life'. Don't get lost in titles - I am a Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, or whatever. Titles don't matter but the way you live your life matters. If something brings you peace & happiness then don't hold yourself back from being successful at life.

IamJ3RSY Considering your comment was 3 years ago I'm not sure you'll see this. However, I'm still going to try to make somewhat of a response for you. Ignore my bad grammar since I'm typing this quickly. It isn't wrong to believe concepts of other religions. If you think being a Catholic is right for you then stay Catholic. Contrarily, it is recommended to be an actual Sikh and practice the methods of Sikhi. The only difference is that in my opinion you are likely to purify yourself in Sikhism better (not trying to offend anyone). Things like not drinking, cutting hair, accepting your body as it is, and meditating are more likely to support you on becoming religious. I hope my answer helped you.

IamJ3RSY As far I understanding Sikh philosophy, if you can treat every one equal and also stand for others, you are following Sikhism. Now whether you become Khalsa (baptist Sikh) is another story. Khalsa is bit too high standard even for me being born in sikh family. I will love to achieve it but I know I am not ready because I still cant respect every woman as sister and still have lot of lust.

Great. He has found his peace. A lot of sikhs are cutting their hair. It's not because they don't love their religion, it's because it requires extra maintenance. A lot of kids are bullied when they are little. Cut hair does not take your character, humanity away from you. A person is made because he/she has taken a lot of other good things from that religion. I wish the bun was made on the back side of your head. Bun on the head means your hair is going against its natural flow. Sikh kids are always crying when it's time to do their hair. Its a fact. You like or not. Most of them can handle it and become good people later in life. This religion is teaching them something.

That last story was the prize. I have only been doing Sadhana for a little over a week and was drawn to seek more information. The more I delve into this practice/way of life, the more I know I am home. Funny thing, I was not seeking a new way, I was practicing Nichiren Buddhism, but did not feel "at home". I believe that I had to take many paths to reach this one. Blessings and thank you. Sat Nam.

Visible difference. Its true that when we believe in something we should proudly show it visibly. However being a person with a turban on doesnt make a person spiritual, anymore than carrying a bible makes a person Christian. True spirituality is heart and mind, its not based on wearing certain things carrying certain things or dressing a certain way. The Holy Spirit seals us children of God, on the outside a spiritual person looks like a everyday person, but on the inside a spiritual person is mentally and personally divine.
