I will say Warriors had some of the worst defensive stats in NRL history last year to finishing 4th this year in defense is quite an improvement also I'm sure Ivan Cleary doesn't care about COTY he'd be happier if Webby got it.

Honestly, that actually makes a lot of sense, Ivan Cleary has been the best coach of the last 5 years, lost an entire team's worth of players the last 2 years, along with 2 assistant coaches and the consistency hasn't changed in the slightest.

As a warriors fan I think Gal is right - Ivan cleary definitely deserves coach of the year plus I love Cleary he'll always first and foremost be a Warrior to me. But I'd even support Walters to win it all three coaches have been amazing!

Well if that’s the case then why is Shaun Johnson getting picked to be the Dally M and not Nathan Cleary. These awards also take into account improvement, the Warriors have been a laughing stock for over a decade and Andrew Webster has transformed them into a force to be reckoned with in his first year, we understand Ivan Cleary has taken his team to a 4th straight GF but that’s not how it works. Compare the teams they coach, Cleary has a team that has been together for so many years and have gained tons of experience, Webster took a group of celler dwellars and transformed them into a top 4 team in his first year.

Most coaches at the Warriors take at least a season to acclimatise to managing the travel load alone, the fact that Webby came in and managed that and got a middle table squad playing far above themselves puts him up there

Panthers got the team who wins matches not their coach. Gus made a platter ready for both Cleary's to get all the credit. Their players are absolutely amazing playing since kids know them well no problems in between. Cleary never won a single trophy before coming to Penrith 2nd time after he got kicked from the same club and he didn't do well in the club where he went in between that period so there is no way he could have gone and become brilliant coach in just a year

Websters impact as coach has had greater impact on his team than what Cleary has this year imo, Panthers have well established pathways,training, junior systems and rapport with Players, he took a great team and made them greater, they are clearly the benchmark. But imo opinion Webster took a team that was a laughing stock in the NRL, that no repected coach or player wanted to come too, who barely survived the wooden spoon the year before and made 1 embarrassing finals appearance in 12 years, and made them a top4 team, he done it without his own recruitment, and he got the absolute best out of his Players. So for me Webby, just because I think his impact on his team has been greater than any other coach.
