In regards to Chile, here's a spoiler free recollection of the information the show has given us up to this point where you're watching: 1. It is very difficult to find the records of him in Chile. 2. He was wealthy enough to sponsor Max's education into becoming a biochemist. 3. Whatever Gus did and whomever he was, it gave him sufficient notoriety to have the mexican cartel not kill him. 4. Chile was at the time ruled by Pinochet's human rights abusing government.

Yeah... Max was obviously Gus's romantic partner. It's Hector makes a homophobic remark in the flashback and why Gus is absolutely enraged by Max's murder. This is also explored a little bit further in BCS. Anyway, the relationship between Walt and Jesse is not comparable which is father and son.

@@busimagen Fowl is Germanic. Poultry/pollo/poulet(french) all come from the Latin "pullus."
@bleepbloop62349 ай бұрын
@@busimagen A good rule of thumb is if you see W, Y, or K, you can pretty much rule out Latin. You're partially right about the relationship between U and W - it was invented for that purpose - but the letter W came along late enough that Latin was untouched by it, so U will always fill that role (aqua, equal, etc.) When V eventually took on the modern sound, W was invented to take up the role that it had been performing, but all of the existing Latin words remained untouched. As a result, W is almost always going to point to words that came into English from German/Anglo-Saxon roots, and W sounds made by a U will almost always be Latin.

After having watched the show a million times, either directly, or by proxy from watching every youtube reaction to it under the sun, I just now realized how this episode gives the answer as to why Gus has a deep rooted distrust of drug addicts. It's because Don Eladio's men used the drugs instead of following Gus' instructions of delivering the product to Eladio, that the whole misunderstanding of Gus supposedly selling product in Eladio's territory happened. So, in Gus' mind, his partner died because a bunch of junkies couldn't follow simple instructions and instead chose to get high. Wow.

Hank's had a blind spot for Walt from the very beginning, like his mind won't even go there to think of him as suspicious. Even when Skylar (who *isn't* a cop) was sniffing him out from the get go lol. Kind of crazy to have this perspective in the show, where you're so sympathetic to the liar in the relationship.

Gus originally accepted Walt's request to work with Jesse because Walt told him "he's my partner & I trust him". He knew what it felt like to lose a trusted partner. A loophole of mine in this episode is that Gus doesn't address Walt by his name at Los Pollos when he shows up with the bug- even though Hank, the rest of Walt's family and some of the dea are already aware of their two's relationship. Also Hank is being extremely inconsiderate to Walt by planting the bug & getting him involved with a high level drug dealer. It could come back to hurt Walt or his family. Hank technically is a "bad cop" and he has his breaking bad moments in the show

So, Gus explains that Gale is one of 3 dozen or so other scholarship recipients. Maybe Gus has plans of international proportions long term. Or maybe Gale was the only one who would work like that for him. Either way, pretty interesting and shows hus ability to truly plan beyond immediate needs

Anyone who tells you Carmen wasn't flirting with Walt is wrong. We're clearly meant to think that she was. The writers just abandoned that plot thread and used what they had already established as a subversion of expectations so that when Walt returns the gesture it can be used as a good excuse for him to be fired, thus opening him up for the Gus storyline.

You guys really should be something. Breaking bad seems to be able to pull back another layer after another layer. I think you guys are correct about Max being a drug addict. I never noticed that before. I think you were completely on point about that. And that’s why, Gustavo, said you could never trust a drug addict. And Kirsch probably didn’t realize that Max was actually dealing. And so when they went to go see Don Allado, he thought they were lying. He didn’t know that this is something that Max was probably doing behind his back. So good work on that analysis folks. I commend you for that.

I love how "in control" Walt believes he is...as he spends 90% of his time worried sick about things out of his control. I agree w/ Gus. He is "not a cautious man at all." He's impulsive, monumentally selfish, and I think self-deluded.

Well, as others mentioned Gus +Max has a mkre simple explanation, clearly alluded to in the episode and *the* scene (while maybe yes, maybe it was a little bitbof Walt-Jesse parallel, that wans truly it Now about Gus and Walt. When Gus invited Walt to the house - I really dont think it was because of caring. Sure, Gus said they're partners and that he wanted to break bread wirh him blah blah. It was about about moulding Walt. Making sure that Walt - stil pretty much a regular guy and a newbie in a criminal world - wouldn't make something stupid. That's why Gus also said something like "you're rich now. Being poor everyone can manage. being rich not really". Gus "cared" about Walt because he cared about his business. Anyway, season finale before you? You are not ready. One of the best episodes and it will put into perspective how magnificently written was season 4, with every little thing and setup. And then you're certainly not ready for the mighty season 5 haha 😂
