Looked up the symbolism of their flag, and from the gist I got; they really do seem like an incredibly mellow people. I dig that, as I dig mellow folk. I would love to see their islands, do some fishing, and if I can; find out some of the local folklore, as I love hearing about that kinda stuff. ✌🏻

Im a Palauan and if somebody from Africa says i dont like Palau because they're matriarchal culture coz inheritance should go through the men line cos we're the one who goes to war and defend the house when there's an intruder ill be annoyed. For example most country in Africa never acquiesce to the idea of LGBT bcoz its not ingrained in their culture beliefs and social forms. Boys were raised to be man and find a good woman and marry. Fathers raised sons to hunt and protect their family and a woman to be a good wife and take care of the children. Leave other country alone🤔😀

More like a derivative from the word omelau which means "enigma, riddles, puzzle, etc." Palau's old name is called Belau, which is derived from that word... omelau. It comes from the legend of how Palau was first created because of a giant named Uab that the people of Angaur (his birthplace) burnt alive because he was causing famine among the villagers by wasting their food resources to feed his never-ending hunger. The villagers became fed-up with him and gathered to secretly plan his assassination. In Palauan it means, "tulmelau ra kodellel a Chuab", hence, his body that apparently fell to form the rest of the islands became Belau.
