The last time I checked, Mahler had written extensively for voice - and never wrote anything lasting two hours. Lol, right? 😐

I used to think Mahler's songs were meant for the female voice. I've learned that isn't the case. Now, I appreciate male voices much more. I still listen to women when they sing his lieder, but I make a point of owning recordings by Hampson, Fischer-Dieskau, and others. This even applies to "Das Lied von der Erde."
