LAMENT FOR BOROMIR
Em D Em
Through Rohan over fen and field
D Em
Where the long grass grows
D Em
The West Wind comes walking
D Em
And about the walls it goes.
C Em
What news from the West, o wandering wind
D Am
Do you bring to me tonight?
Em D Em
Have you seen Boromir the Tall
D Em
By moon or by starlight?
Em D Em
I saw him ride over seven streams
D Em
Over waters wide and grey
D Em
I saw him walk in empty lands
D Em
Until he passed away
C Em
Into the shadows of the North
D Am
I saw him then no more.
Em D Em
The North Wind may have heard the horn
D Em
Of the son of Denethor.
C Em
O Boromir! From the high walls
D Am
Westward I looked afar,
Em D Em
But you came not from the empty lands
D Em
Where no men are.
Em D C
From the mouths of the Sea the South Wind flies
Am Em/B C D
From the sandhills and the stones,
Em D C
The wailing of the gulls it bears
Am D Em
And at the gate it moans.
C Em
What news from the South, O sighing wind
D C
Do you bring to me at eve?
Am Em
Where now is Boromir the Fair?
D Em
He tarries and I grieve.
Em D C
Ask not of me where he doth dwell -
Am Em/B C D
So many bones there lie,
Em D C
On the white shores and the dark shores
Am D Em
Under the stormy sky,
C Em
So many have passed down Anduin
D C
To find the flowing Sea.
Am Em
Ask of the North Wind news of them
D Em
The North Wind sends to me!
C Em
O Boromir! Beyond the gate
D C
The seaward road runs south,
Am Em
But you came not with the wailing gulls
D Em
From the grey sea’s mouth.
Em G
From the Gate of the Kings
D/F# Em
The North Wind rides
Am G/B C D
And past the roaring falls,
Em G D/F# Em
And clear and cold about the tower
D Em
Its loud horn calls.
C Em
What news from the North, O mighty wind
D C
Do you bring to me today?
Am Em
What news of Boromir the bold?
D Em
For he is long away.
Em G D/F# Em
Neath Amon Hen I heard his cry.
Am G/B C D
There many foes he fought,
Em G D/F# Em
His cloven shield, his broken sword
C D Em
They to the water brought.
C Em
His head so proud, his face so fair
D C
His limbs they laid to rest,
Am Em
And Rauros, golden Rauros-falls
D Em
Bore him upon its breast.
C Em
O Boromir! The Tower of Guard
D Am
Shall ever northward gaze,
C Em
To Rauros, golden Rauros-falls
D Em
Until the end of days.

Oh my god, the video is amazing! I can practically make out the silhouette’s of Gandalf and the fellowship off in the distance next to those spectacular mountains and Treebeard swaying behind you in the forest. I’m so thrilled you’ve created this my lovely friend. You took my little melody and made it shine so much more beautifully with your silky, gorgeous voice. You’re incredible! X

Oh my god, I have not visited this Chanel in like a year XD. I kind of forgot how beautiful your voice sounded like but up to this day, I started playing guitar and I realized that it was really difficult and I honestly gave up because I couldn’t really find ways to get better so I have to show some respect for you because of how difficult it is to play a 6-stringed instrument. :)

Your so beautiful interpretation in this succession of breathtaking scenes is magical! I love the effects of the sky on the mountains and there is even the sound of the waves. You also managed to captivate a small bird in this pretty forest. (he seems charmed) Really nice video and still your amazing voice. You have chosen well with this lovely theme from Karliene. Boa sorte!

I'll reply in English in the hope it makes things even easier =D I'm glad you enjoyed my version. Congratulations for your 7.000! Three different - always beautiful - settings, this time! I admit I was a little worried a wave would soak you and your guitar during the second part, you were so close to the water! I'd love for you to do this lovely song again but with a second voice, a soprano singing a sixth above, perhaps? Or a bass singing a fourth lower? Or any combination your musical talents invent for our pleasure?

Thank you very much! It was amazing to explore all these stunning locations, and well, I might have gotten partially soaked while recording by the sea. This is a very beautiful arrangement and performance. It captures achingly Tolkien’s original intent, to make this a lament sung by Denethor, as he looks in vain from Minas Tirith for his beloved son. (It of course works mournfully enough in the mouths of Aragorn and Legolas.)
