Go at least 14karat, its over half Gold. 9& 10karat is less Gold than other metal(alloy). 18k is perfect for jewellery, just my opinion. it have 75% Gold in and it looks good, a little heavyer than 14k but i Think its the best, even if i know very good goldchains of 21karat,22karat and 23,2karat(thai baht chains,stamped 965 or 96,5%) or the “Rolls Royce” of jewellery 24karat 999,9 finegold.

I don't understand why you twist it and then twist it by hand so that you claim the links aren't as spaced out but then you run it through the rolling mill anyway to flaten and space them out makes no sense.
