I've never tried the Ruth Stout method but this video makes me want to try it. Last season I had extra seed potatoes and not enough room in my containers to plant them so I planted some in leaf compost and in another area I used just grass clippings. They did relatively well but I think the Ruth Stout method will be even better. Thank you.

First cutting hay is usually less nutrient dense as the plants are growing so fast at the beginning of the growing season. Later cuttings typically should have more seeds as they're cut later in the plants life cycle and they've gone to seed and the slower growing plants are more nutrient dense. This is why first cutting is usually cheaper than later cuttings and usually fed to horses that don't need to produce food for us.
