I'm struggling with germination of hot peppers right now.. ironically the carolina reapers have done ok, had 6/10 germinate, lost 2 to dampening off, but have 4 good seedlings, the chocolate habenero, however 1/10 and the pepperX was 0/10 lol 😆

Can't wait to try out my new Greenstalk trays and 2 vertical garden systems. My goal this year is to eradicate the lawn and make every inch a suitable growing space for anything I can eat 😂❤

Sorry, but it doesnt remove dangerous oxalates.
@GutenGardeningКүн бұрын
Agreed, and that is one of the things we talk about in the video. There are other vegetables on the list that are lower in oxalates, like Kale. If oxalates are a concern, then there are definitely other options besides spinach. Thank you so much for watching!

I have a Gooseberry bush in my garden that I planted a year ago, so this summer I am hoping to have fruit. They are deliciously sweet when ripe and tarty when green as you said. Thank you for your video and I look forward to seeing more.

My childhood memories ❤ my grandmother had 3 of them in her garden…green, yellow and black or rather dark purple. Ripped ones are very sweet!

I’ve been growing them for several years here in the mountains of Idaho. They don’t ripen until late in the season here. Very easy to propagate with the ground layering technique and the deer tend to leave them alone because of the sharp spikes on the stems. The purple ones are my favorite.

Since I reside in the same grow zone here in Minnesota, I plan to give gooseberries a try since our grapes are harder to protect & harvest along the creek edge.

Never heard of it before. The fruits remind me of ground cherries. I had those growing prolifically for years. Sadly, nobody got to taste them as I ate every single one 😂❤

Here in Zone 5 NY we are having the same weather as you!! I, too enjoyed the 33* hardly noticing the wind after BRUTAL COLD for the last 3 weeks!!! Inspite of the COLD, -6 a few nights, day time highs in the low teens, Asian Greens, Bok Choy and Napa cabbage survived in a plastic low tunnel. I opened the low tunnel and cut some TODAY! I don't like the flavor of Swiss Chard or Kale so I grow Asian greens instead.

Not only can you overwinter your peppers but if you are in a colder climate they like growing in containers. If you get a larger container you can put 2 in a container because they like friends! I have done this. Also if your drive way is sunny put the pots there for extra heat. They grow better. Eggplants too, but they do not like friends they stay single. I have never tried overwinter an eggplant.
@ValerieT202314 күн бұрын
I've tried for several years to like Swiss Chard. Last year, I pulled it. Decided I just don't like it. Maybe I don't know how to make it tasty. My favorite last year was Shikou Eggplant. Marinated eggplant is fantastic. I add garlic I've grown and red onions pulled straight from the garden.

Another informative video. Cucumbers would also be great. I grew kale because of your video with the smoothie. We the kale in a smoothie and sauteed. This year I want to try eggplant. Not sure the best way to cook them. It would be nice if you had time to share some of your favorite recipes. Thank you for all of the information. 🍆🍆

I always enjoy your videos. I love cucumbers and tried growing them in grow bags last year. I have plenty of land but not plenty of sun due to all my oak trees. Do you have any cucumber varieties that you would recommend for growing in bags/pots. I found last year that putting the grow bags out on my driveway was a great way for my plants to get more sun. Or you can just water your bottoms here, because it probably not getting enough water from the top. It's easier to do it that way, because if you notice they're small, they just need a little bit more water at the bottom. That means it has to come out watery, so instead of doing another plant in that area, just water the bottom. Individually If you must cause apparently, if you water it from the top, sometimes it doesn't always get to the bottom.
