I don't think I've heard anyone better. It's almost impossible to comprehend how skilful he is.

Guthrie is one of the best in the world. His band is The Aristocrats - a trio comprising Guthrie, Bryan Beller (bass) and Marco Minnemann (drums). All three are top notch musicians who play in other top-level bands when not playing their fusion-based instrumental music. Guthrie has played with Steve Wilson and regularly with composer Hans Zimmer’s touring band.

I told you a while back he was the best. Glad you've found him. They call this music Fusion.

Btw the solo is improvised. I suggest checking out more from him, I'd say Erotic Cakes (the song) from the album is great

Listen to Guthrie's work with Hans Zimmer; I'd recommend the Thelma & Louise (Orange) from 2016. He breaks a string and recovers nicely. His solo are mostly total improvisation and you can see that from all the different Man of Steel solo's on KZbin, each one is a masterpiece. Someone made a video of 13 of them joined together so you can compare them all. His work with Steve Wilson, on the songs Regret #9, Ancestral, Routine and especially Drive Home are all worth a listen to. He now plays in a three piece fusion band called The Aristocrats. Flatlands, Bad Asteroid and Last Order are all great songs and there a bunch of different versions of each available. The Aristocrats with the Primuz Chamber Orchestra album is highly recommended. Their version of Last Order is one of my favorites. He may be the finest improvisor who's ever picked up the electric guitar. There are probably 100 videos of him improvising over backing tracks in many different styles - jazz/fusion/rock/blues/country. Unfortunately there's very little of him playing acoustic (with GPS) or nylon string guitars and no classical or flamenco, though, I have seen him play the banjo.

Another incident similar to this happened just recently with Hans 2024 tour. String broke while he was soloing over the Superman theme but still came out pretty awesome

Guthrie is amazing, you should listen to some work from Igor Paspalj, another absolutely unbelievable guitarist. It would be great to get your reaction.

I've heard a lot of Guthrie's diverse playing over the years, also seen him with the Aristocrats live in Edinburgh. I think the track "The Outsider" gives the new listener a good idea to his capabilities so to speak. Truly beautiful, honest, intricate, soul massaging music that grips your thoughts and makes guitar players gasp in dis-belief, wonder and joy all at the same time. Just as you thought he'd delivered his magic music to the pinnacle he slips in something else, something more than you could ever imagine. I don't like comparisons with other players or sayings like "Guitar Gods" etc so it's fortunate that I don't need to say anything of the sort in relation to Guthrie. All we need do is just listen, relax, enjoy the vibrations that enter your soul. Check out "The Outsider" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmHJaaGLYpiSkLM Also check out another exceptional and unique guitarist, Daniele Gottardo kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5TEY42bYsmId9U

How can you not know the best guitarist alive?
@onsesejoo26052 ай бұрын
"Waves" and "Bad Asteroid" are perhaps some of his signature pieces with Aristocrats. The structure of the piece brings Polyphia to mind, "Aviator" for example. And I bet Tim Henson has listened Govan's music quite a lot.

Guthrie is a virtuoso treasure. Highly recommend any of his Aristocrats live performances. Pick one. Any one. They are amazing.

To call a guitarist " the best in the world" is a subjective view. I'm sure Guthrie doesn't think like that. But it is right to mention his name in the same breath as Alan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, Al DI Meola, Matteo Mancuso. What I like about Guthrie is that he instinctively knows when one note is enough or when 20 notes are not enough! There are clips on KZbin of him playing along to backing tracks in different styles and it's all improvised. This is what puts him up among the greats.

It would be under guitar fusion.. Guthrie and Ron Thia, two of the best ever.. The jams they do together are out of this world.. 100% full control of their instruments

I’d recommend the previously online viral Guthrie govan man of steel improv solo for man of steel (the one he’s on stage with Hans Zimmer standing right in front of him). I think Guthrie is the best of all time

HE MEANT HE WOULD PICK THE STRING WITH HIS FINGER AS YOU WOULD IN A TAP
@vadlaslettaАй бұрын
@@milkjug7800 No need for Full caps. I understood him perfectly. I just explained what the technique is called. You would not pick the strings when tapping. The closest thing to regular playing is hammer-on and pull-offs.

Or as I always say: Looks like Jesus, plays like God. Forgive me that religious joke lol. He isn't called "The guitarists guitarist" fo nothing. And i love the beautiful Suhr, though i think he's back to Charvel again. Greets from Germany. Enjoy!
