I started learning harp at the age of 8 but stopped at 15, because at that time, the closest person to me, my harp teacher, had to quit teaching, due to domestic violence and alcoholism…This song made me regain my courage for the harp, so i grabbed my harp, replaced all the torn strings, tuned it and start playing again. I started with this very song! Playing this almost puts me in tears every time. This is to me one of the greatest peace of art ever to be performed on Harp. Very Emotional. Thank you

Sounds like you played pedal harp. Had I known they had those classes in the college I went to in New York for my freshman year, I would have learned to play pedal harp. Still kick myself for that!😖 Pedal harp seems like the musical equivalent of learning to drive a stick-shift, IMO. Lever or folk harp is easier, and brings out your inner muse! I haven't been able to play it for a while due to extenuating circumstances, but it's safely in storage. I miss it!😭 But if you can get a small lever harp, you can still have a lot of fun with it!

In the Indian classical tradition, I just learned that there are two concepts of musical sound. One pertains to "struck" sound which is audible and the studied sound we all understand in the West to be "music." The other pertains to "unstruck" sound, which is sensed through our hearts/spirits rather than through any physical faculty. Music is, by this tradition, a vehicle or medium, through which, with practice in playing or in listening, one may sense and connect with this mystical unheard sound. I believe it must be the "sound" or vibration of the eternal side of our own beings which is within us and around us at all times. All that to say that the meditation your beautiful playing invokes, must surely be a vehicle honored by this unusual theory of unstruck sound, holding within it the subtle power to amplify this elusive and sacred sound, the sound of one's own spirit. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. I think the Celtic element here must deepen that connection to the "unstruck." It has always stirred something in me.
@hoppy19704 жыл бұрын
I only realised this myself within this last year and it has changed the way I listen to music; also the human voice. It felt like a "new beginning". Perhaps the connection is stronger in celtic music due to it's ancient origins.

Dear Mark, thank you so much for your beautiful words, and ...welcome to the harp world! I, too, had piano lessons when I was 5, it is such a great basis for learning the harp later on. Enjoy your harp path and take care, Nadia
That was the most Beautiful thing I have ever heard. God Bless You and your Lovely Music. ❤🙏

Truly a pleasure to listen to. Better than Mrs.Coltrane to my ears. Pleasing sounds instead of soulless maths ...

Thank you I just learned what a Celtic harp was and then listened to this It’s so beautiful 😍
Never had an interest in listening to harp music. I always thought it is a weird instrument that no one likes. Today, out of nowhere, I decided to look it up and I found this video. This is by far the most relaxing, most peace-inducing music I have ever had the pleasure and honor of listening to. No too dramatic, but no dry either. Perfect. Thank you so much for uploading!
