Gutted granaries - Ashes of Aedirn

In this quest we first come across a town who have been robbed of their granaries and crops by Nilfgaardian soldiers leaving them to starve. On seeing Meve they were happy, however as with all wars they have a price. After you kill of the Nilfgaardian's with Meve's army you have a dilemma on your hands whereby your soldiers require food and sustenance with the war nowhere near over, and the peasants also require the food. There are 3 choices- keep all the food and let the peasants die, split it 50:50, or give all to the peasants with your soldiers left hungry. I chose the middle ground leaving no-one as a loser, but what will you choose?
Unless you give the town everything back they will not be happy.
