I rented lift for $210 for 2 days. Worth every penny. I had a list of things and banged the all out, including tree trimming, caulking and roof repairs.

Last year I did the plastic mesh gutter guards and they were just awful complete waste of money. Buying metal or even the plastic gutter guards would be pretty expensive to do my whole house but this is an actual good idea. Gonna try this before fall hits.

Galvanized metal is going to corrode when it comes into contact with aluminum it will look great for a couple years and then you’ll see your gutters. Will show signs of corrosion where it touches the galvanized metal. Just a heads up.

Blizzard of `96, wow. I was there. So you must've gone up on the roof after I left. Yeah, that was some storm. I've tried going on the roof of this house, the ranch side of it, and it's way too steep for my comfort. So I always had to clean the gutters from a ladder. So every evening, watching a certain news channel, we are blasted with commercials from one particular company that does what you are talking about. In some of the commercials they show a very fine mesh screen, but in earlier commercials they showed the metal that overhangs the gutter, and the water is supposed to roll over it and then under. I'm totally skeptical on that. Your DIY idea seems to be a good one. But it appears the opening over your gutters is unusually narrow. I'm surprised.

Not sure if I missed it in the video or not, but how did you secure the mesh to the gutter? Did you just slide it under the shingle and that supplied enough weight to hold it down? And if I don’t have as much shingle overhang as you and needed to affix the mesh how would you recommend that? I have seen people drilling screws through the mesh into the gutter.

Same question… is it affixed in any way?

Did you tak it down with anything on the gutter, or did you just put it under the shingle

Great vid….I live in Indiana and already have my mesh on order from amazon….question….did your first roll cover the house or did you need more?

To be honest I have not finished it yet.. But have to before the leaves start falling. So still on the same roll.. I wanted to share this idea early enough for others to see before it was to late for fall... Thanks!

@@ronstickle4694 No worries thanks so much I really hope this works, we have large elm trees around the house and when “fall” hits…we’ll it’s FALL and we just can’t keep the gutters clean fast enough. Then the rain comes and our crawl space gets EXTREMELY wet because the water isn’t running through the gutters it just pours over the sides. I would appreciate if you’d keep me updated here and I will do the same when we start our DIY gutter guard project👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@@zxDILLIGAFxz I sure will! I had big maple trees and one I had them taken down.. It was not about the leaves but but the the damage when they drop a a branch or fall on the house.. There was a huge old maple that I worried about between properties if it ever happened. 3K at the time.. I waited and got it done for 2k... A huge relief!

Did my entire house this summer. 1/8 in mesh is better cut it at 6 inches wide. Bent one side 3/4 inch. Put that side against grip edge and put a screw in that side. Forced other side under front edge. Slight upward bow gives it strenght. No need to lift up shingles. About $100 invested.. Leaf filter gave me a discount quote at $6,000😂 I'm 76 years old piece of cake. P.S. we have had 3 very heavy rain falls and not one problem!
