For my Sky-Vac Atom (2017?), I wash the filter and its frame from the inside, since the dirt lands on the outside surface. This way the dirt is pushed out and off, rather than into the fabric. Excellent machine, and it can blow as well as suck, which is very useful to shift loose debris quickly down off roof tiles. Tip: always rinse your rigid and flexible tubes by sucking a few litres of clean water at the end of the job, holding the pipes up progressively towards the machine as water can sit in there and come out all over the place as you dismantle the kit. The vacuum accessories are very useful too, for all sorts of outdoor cleaning, like EDPM rubber tiles.

I think the main thing to remember is that filter is the only thing protecting your motor from ingesting debris and fine dust. I’d only use it without a filter if you’re clearing very wet gutters or water. One of the biggest killers of gutter vacs (and many wet pick-up vacs) is motor failure due to the fans getting damaged or clogged from ingesting dirt. The fans are also finely balanced and if they’re continually dealing with dirt going through them it knocks them out of balance and they get a hell of a lot noisier! The same goes for most vacuums. I had a builder tell me on a job recently while I was using my Kerstar ‘if you take the bag and filter out it’ll be more powerful that’s what I do with my Henry’ he was surprised when I said, where do you think the dirt you’re picking up is going? Yes straight through the motor and out the back all over the place again. Facepalm moment.

@TheCleanersCupboard2 жыл бұрын
@@plymouthchat yes basically. But tbh it probably won’t hurt to keep the filter in all the time. It just means you’ll have to wash it a bit more often but it will help the motor last longer. The idea is you want to stop as much debris getting sucked through the motor as possible

Thanks Ashley . Your advice has been most helpful to me. Most my work is cleaning windows. I bought the skyvac atom for my customers who wanted their gutters cleaning. I took your advice and bought the rigid neck assembly. My only problem is that I the tool to get into a gutter which is tight doesn't fit the rigid neck assembly.. I noticed that you had a section that did fit the rigid assembly. What is the part called. Many thanks. The videos are most helpful.

Great video ! Would you recommend cleaning the filter after every single use ? And which vacuum Would you recommend out of the 2 you had in the video for a small business ?
@aemackintosh2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the smaller Atom would be a great way to start on domestic work. I think it depends on how mucky the dirt is in the gutters and how that effects the filters. A little clean each time won’t hurt, as long as the filter is dry before you use it again.😃👍🏼

Do you keep the plastic cap type thing on inside the filter of the Atom or take it out? I found it work significantly better without it on but can't find anything that says it should stay in or not
@aemackintosh6 ай бұрын
Not sure what you mean. But if it works better without it, then go with that.😉👍🏼
@PBurgess816 ай бұрын
@aemackintosh I think it is a plastic cup that raises with the water level in the tub and ultimately stops water from being sucked up into the motor maybe. Thing is, even when the vacuum is empty it still seems to activate the safety cap when it is switched on

Clean with a brush as much dust as possible around the filter without removing it. Use an air blower (in a car workshop) from inside (of the filter) to outside NOT outside to inside (you push dust into the filter)
