3x I've heard of people walking into a studio & Guy was in the back or something, just talking. Every one them said when they heard that voice they knew it was him. Guy Clark was one of a kind. Thanks Harri. I love Guy Clark. Along with Townes Van Zandt (his best friend) and Steve Earle are three of the best song writers to come out of Texas. In the case of Townes one of the best to ever do it.

@@zelmo999 Rodney Crowell is okay. Not my fave. I think Doc Watson, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams Sr and Townes are the Mount Rushmore of song writers. Guy, Steve, Lyle, Jerry Jeff and Ray Wylie are right there too. NOBODY gives Ray Wylie Hunbard the respect he deserves. Hayes Carll is outstanding too.

Guy Clark was a great talent. The first I heard from him were some songs played from "My Favorite Picture of You" which is absolutely one of my favourite albums. I've had him down on my list of choices and this makes it fairly certain that It's one of my choices next month. I'd never heard this version of the song before, just the solo on "Songs and Stories" so I'm going to thank the person who picked it. Karen Matheson is the lead singer with Capercaillie, the Scottish folk band and they are brilliant in their own may so this is an inspired pairing.

Guy Clark is another underrated talent. Never crossed into the mainstream, but beloved by people who are familiar with his output. I’m a bit unsure about the story of this song. With all the other references to European locations and culture, I always assumed it was about him reflecting on a relationship while feeling homesick on a foreign tour in Ireland, but looking into it, it might actually be Dublin, Texas where he was when he wrote it. That’s not really so far from Austin though, and I kind of feel the rest of the song, such as him comparing the David and the Mona Lisa to Doc Watson, works better if I imagine him actually in the more known Dublin. Definitely recommend you check out more from him. Desperados Waiting for a Train is perhaps the best to get a better sense of his storytelling. Also rather fond of The Guitar and The Randle Kinfe.
