To this day, I don't know whether or not the original Fawkes vs Joker was made ironically or not. The costume design and effects were excellent, but the writing was full of sex jokes to the point where it was less a rap battle and more of a rape battle. This version, however, does just about everything right. It gets the effects down, as with the costume work (I especially like the detail of Joker's makeup being damaged, with the dark hole-like mark on the smile and the sticking out parts of the white paint above the smile. Intentional or not, that is some body horror.), and the voice performances. Where it manages to one-up the original was with the writing. I mean, there's no reason it wouldn't. It's not only longer, but the sex jokes are much more sparse in the writing, except for when they're actually clever (like the V for Vendetta joke). Great work!

I believe the original one was purposefully made like that. It was a dangerous bet, but at the end of the day, the original Fawkes vs joker was a lot more remembered than if it was a serious battle, plain and less good than ERB's. The lyrics sucked but it stood out in its own way, and it will stay in everyone's memories for a lot more time
