@overthewebb4 жыл бұрын
@@bensmith9984, Of course, we took curry from the Indians, due to our Empire, but the 'British Curry' was similar what we took to Japan and Hong Kong, hence, Chinese Curry worldwide also. Both have a base of curry powder which is a very British thing. It was the British interpretation of Indian curry Hamburgers came from Germany as did Hot dogs, but they became Americanised, same with Chilli in the States. Japanese Curry is nothing like curry in India.We gave British Navy curry to Japan in about 1880's or so.

@@hop-skip-ouch8798 "Brahma". Brahma, for some reason is an English colloquialism or slang word meaning very good or excellent. It's my understanding that it came to Britain from India during the days of the Raj. I'm aware that it means nothing of the sort in Hindi, being a Hindu God, but, (again from what I understand) something caused it to change meaning along the way - at least as far as the returning British were concerned. If I'm wrong about how "Brahma" became a slang word then fair enough, I can accept being corrected, but it makes sense to me. (Guy says it at the very end of the video as he's eating the oyster curry thing.)
@ianmacfarlane12415 жыл бұрын
@@connorsmith7804 In Scotland we use the word "brammer" which is clearly the same word because that's exactly what it means in Scotland. If you'd pulled a gorgeous girl on an night out you'd be liable to tell people, "she was a wee brammer"😂.

In terms of the immigrant thing 1: why do the UN care about domestic japanese markets? 2: if the supply goes down without the demand going down, the price will rise, the industry will become more profitable, and employers will pay more in order to get more workers so that they can have a bigger slice of the seafood market.
@hop-skip-ouch87985 жыл бұрын
@Chuck Or he's an employer, either way, minimum wage stays minimum wage. Profit and growth rarely trickle down in these cases. Just because a brand like Zara can markup a dress for 200$ doesn't mean the shop workers in Bangladesh gets any part of it.

@Tycondaroga100 You're the fool. The workforce moves to nicer jobs and the supply shrivels and the prices increase. The companies that use their profits to incentivise people to work for them (by offering better wages, hours, benefits, etc.) will gain a larger market share and thus make more money. This isn't the third world. Working them to death isn't really an option.
