Guy Lombardo began his musical career in 1924 in his native London, Ontario; with brothers Lebert, Carmen and Victor, he formed a big dance band. Originally, Guy was a violinist, but he soon became the band's leader and conductor. The Royal Canadians' slogan was "The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven" -- and by 1930, the group was America's top dance band.

My favourite period- for music as well as well as movies, is the 1930's - though I was born in the late 40's and have an affection for the music of the late 50's and into the 60's as well- the music of my mis-spent youth- but it sure was fun while it lasted. unfortunately, none of the Lombardo brothers are living. Their sister Rose-Marie, who sang with the band in the 40's, is still alive, as far as I know. She began her singing carreer at 16 y.o. She lives in Akron OH.
