This guy kicked butt. I remember seeing this on MTV. Great guitarist. David Eagle kicked butt on the drums, too.

fun fact, Guy was originally and more famously known as a drummer. maybe where he gets his amazing timing from

This was an amazing album, but unfortunately for Guy people like, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Tony MacAlpine and a bunch of other Guitar players overshadowed him and were all releasing albums around the same time. The mid-80's unleashed the Age of the Shredders, where even Guy Mann Dude was tossed off to the wayside by virtuoso's like the previously mentioned Gods.

Yngwie has released a worse version of his debut every single time. Guy Mann-Dude got out before it imploded. Smart move.

Tony MacAlpine is one of the most underrated guitar players I've ever listened to. I absolutely love the guy, but you speak of him like he was a household name.

How many shredders fell in the 80's?

Guy's downfall was no front man for the band! Metal albums without singers never fared well. He released 2 records and was dropped.

Then how come guys like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai succeeded?
@Malte-Micha6 ай бұрын
@johndrake2729 When Vai and Sateiani started They didn't start by playing instrumentals. They were in other bands as well. Some of those bands were not successful. They used a different strategy compared to guy man dude. One must understand how the music industry works as a whole. Set triani and Vai They weren't necessarily making money from their music. Their records sold well, but only for a short period of time. Guy man dude was a very good musician, but was not able to establish his footing, As a soloist, when you do instrumental. Albums, you take a chance and the chance is highly not in your favor it is better to have a front man and or a singer. That will bring you to a broader audience.

@@Malte-Micha Guess it worked for guys like Malmsteen and Impelliteri.
@Malte-Micha6 ай бұрын
@johndrake2729 Malmsteen started out in the band Steeler with Ron Keel and Rik Fox, W A.S.P 's original bassist.then went to work for gram bonnet aka Alcatraz the rock band. Before doing his musicals. Never said that it can't work, but the odds of success are different when you are doing instrumentals. Maumstein himself was in bands that were not successful. Impeliteri was also in other bands.Prior to doing instrumentals, one of those bands was very successful. Almost had more success than his own solo band. Don't think that they didn't have their downfalls as well as they did more than most know. That's just how the music industry is. Trust me, I know i've been in it for thirty years

I remember way back in 1989 reading that he was originally a drummer, but switched to guitar in his late teens. I thought this was cool, but never bought the cassette 😂. This was after the apex of the 80s shred guitar and Shrapnel overload.

I would say that it was pretty good shredding for the time. It is not harmonically rich and has no real structure. Drums were slamming pretty good, however.
