I remember growing up hearing my momma sing this.. As I got older, I strayed away and started getting into the dark arts, but God never gave up on me, he was always right by my side and for years I tried to deny him but he would not let me go.. I lost my momma 3 years ago to septic shock and my world spiraled out of control, my heart shattered into a million tiny pieces I cared for no one, nothing, I didn't care if I lived or died... but then one day, God busted my heart wide open, the tears started flowing and I knew where I belonged, I prayed and the tears would not stop coming, I told God I was so sorry for everything I had ever done that hurt him and to please forgive me and to work in me to show me what it was that he wanted me to do.. I have a peaceful heart now, where as before, I was always fighting and arguing, but people, let me tell you, he took all of that away, he replaced the bitterness in my heart with his peace and undying love... What an amazing love he has for us... Undying and ever faithful he is... Thank you God for not ever giving up on me... Just wanted to share.. Stay blessed and stay safe...

I am a mature born again Christian 78 now. Have served the Lord in both full time service & as a lay person. But I was born & raised as italian catholic but with chaotic parents. As I look back and I see so many times the Lord preserved me, protected me from ruination. During a near deadly situation I was 14 & put all alone on a train from Los Angeles to NYC with no money for food. Sitting next to me was a young sailor on his way home to Chicago. I believe he was the first angel God Sent to me. I had never heard a protestant music, he patiently sat for hours teaching me this song. He was kind & realized I had not eaten & bought me a chicken sandwich & some milk, I know I will see my navy boy in heaven one day. I've never forgot him, but I never got his name. A few years later the lord sent a door to door Bible salesman to my door. He is the one that led me to the lord 59 years ago last February. I was being drawn to the Lord since I was 5 years old. Our steps are ordered of the Lord. It is he who directs us to himself. I am so full of joy, love, peace, love of God in my ending years. He gave me an incredible life. Now I feel he's coming sooner than later. Hallelujah thine the glory. Even so come Lord Jesus come.

I become an active Christian in local church when I was 33 years old. I practically involved in local church ministry. But one thing is missing for me. For years and years I have been praying that God will put the right tune melody into my voice. I was off key from day one. In 2009 at age 65 years old, I found the right voice. God indeed answered my prayer. But instead of singing blessed Gospel Song, Christian songs, I side track to Gentile melody for 10 years now. Like Moses sidetrack for 40 years in the wilderness. I had 3 near-death-vehicular accident. The last recent accident, a big van hit the corner right side of my sedan and my car literally flew, airborne, turn turtle in the air hit the open big box cement culvert down and the car landed in the deep water on 4 wheels. It was a miracle. The sedan was totally damage, shrink. But I came out unscratched. One day I heard this song "The Old Rugged Song'' on radio. I thought He touch me to go back on the right track, to the God's service. I started a Bible Study now in a Public School with teachers around who are hungry to know the truth of the Bible . I am leading this Bible Study. Please pray that the Spirit of God will put His word and desire to me to bring the lost to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

I do not remember how I came across you. But you're such a beautiful singer you inspired me so much. I suffered a terrible stroke during the pandemic. So life has been my mom is the very yard. I just lost my mom at Christmas little companion dog. In June it's been very hard to go on, as yes, you can't get any support from anywhere these days. My grandpa was a principal at a school in Hamilton, Ohio and invited George Bennard to the school back in the late 1930’s. My mother got to meet him also and she was the one who told me about the experience. She would have been 98 next month, February 2020, but went home to be with Jesus in October 2019. This song was one of my grandpa and mother’s favorite songs.

Magdalena, I was booked to fly in to visit my Mom, when I got a call from hospice telling me she passed away. The hospice caregiver told me that was the song she most wanted to hear before she passed. She taught me the words as a child. I miss my Mom too, she died in 2011, but we will sing it together someday, and you and your Mom can join us!💟♎💟
