The most important thing that people forget about Folkrace is that it's not supposed to be a contact sport. If you hit anyone too hard you could get a warning flag and/or if you spin someone out deliberately, you're immediately black flagged. They should have mentioned it in the video.

Well it still is a contact sport, RX also counts as one. Contactsports doesnt mean its an allout demo derby, rather that contacts happens and your car might be fucked

Been there, done that. And yes, in the same car! Born in Borlange and work there. From work, we have visited this racetrack a few times to do some rental-folkracing. Fun as (a sulphursmelling hot place with a manager who has horns, a goatbeard and a tail...)

This sort of rally infrastructure in Sweden, Norway and Finland is why the feeder group for WRC is so technically good. Many years ago I did the Haugland course and it really lifted my skills. People don't realise that the WRC Swedish winter rally round used to average 100 kph per stage. I can recall hearing cars on the rev limiter for 10-20 secs at 180-190 kph in snow on a couple of stages.

I watch a lot of automotive shows from Britain, never heard of folk racing. I dont think we have that in the states, but it seems like demolition derby mixed with offroad circuit racing. Pretty cool.

You should try to get this going in UK, Guy, because regular rallycross is far too expensive for most people.

In Folkrace every car is up for sale after every race. If someone offers 8000 SEK (665 GBP or 780 EUR) you have to sell it. With this rule no one is investigating loads of money in their cars, making the sport affordable for most people.

I can agree with you on that mate I spend a fair time driving in my job as mobile plant fitter and see some absolutely shocking driving, the use of mobiles is worse than ever, bad overtaking, speeding, and dordleing wich frustrates other road users.

@@MrNrg19uk And yes, you can hire cars and learn to race But you need to go to a track that does that, which are more far an few between, compared to the racing tracks themselves which are everywhere. But in worse case scenario, all cars after the race can be bought for £800. The owner HAS to sell it if you want the car. So are you really adventurous, you can go that route.
