Even without his sword, Kisame is a beast. He fought 7 gates Guy, takes a Hirudora to the face, and survived. Now granted Guy did say that he hold back because he didn't want to kill Kisame to get his intel but still, surviving Hirudora point blank is a good feat. Him also preferring to die rather than snitch on his comrades is very respectable.

Kisame had drained chakra from Killer Bee and the 8 tails + Samehada wouldnt so shit against Guy who doesnt use chakra based attacks, so it doesnt matter if he had samehada or not +Guy had to use 7 gates only because he wanted to get the scroll back faster

Despite everything that Kisame did, in the end, he was probably one of the most powerful and respectful characters in the show's history. He's fought against Guy three times, taken some of his most powerful attacks, and fought against numerous jinjhuriki over the show's history and lived, as well as other strong opponents as well. Even after all he did, he stood by the Akatsuki till the end, going so far as to die to help them.

If Oda is genius for mixing various cultures and story with a twist of mystery in it, i can say Kishimoto is infamous for making the story longer with too many flags that can make you frustrates, but also makes you want it to watch it more. If this two Mangaka join forces together to create a new Manga series, but with a little bit of mix from their famous masterpiece (One Piece and Naruto series), damn bro, i only can imagine if that happens will probably broke the internet.

Fun fact....They talk about most of the legendary swordsman dying in a battle in the past....That was Guy's father that killed most of the wielders of the special blades. Using the 8th gate of death. Kisame's master was killed by Guy's father and he then got the sword from him just like Zabuza came to collect the butcher sword.
