@digaddog6099

Not really, its true that you should think fir yourself and have distrust for the government, but 1984 is really about psychology. How, by limiting the number of words and their meanings, you can by extension limit thought. How, by having your target know their being watched, you can force them to police their own head. It deals with other subjects, but "dont trust the government" is a very milquetoast interpretation.

George Orwell was describing the Soviet Union in 1984 way before the Cold War and made chilling references like ‘big brother’. He also wrote animal farm which talks about communism and I have actually read that and it is so interesting because on one hand, it’s a kinda gory story about animals taking over the farm and on the other, it describes the grim realities of communism and dictatorship. I am 13 and I understood it but I would probably recommend it for kids like 14+ because if you read it, you definitely want to be able to understand all the references.

Did he predict the future or is it that the people who run everything now got a hold of it then and decided that that is how the world will be ran? Who were the people that felt that they had so much power and was did they come to the conclusion that they were to be the “chosen one” to decide this? Hate for the next person and greed only created chaos. It has not solved anything.

Not gonna spoil it, you already know Orwell view which is a communist totalitarian gvt thru outright force. Huxley said that would be done by feeding into ppls pleasures, aka kill em with kindness/desires/wants. It's also about alot of other things It's a 9.9/10 for me.
