It needs tomato paste to thicken it. The 1/4 cup of Chinese sauce made it very watery and it never evaporated

Chinese sauce can't make anything watery, and tomato paste isn't a thickener, cabbage is a watery vegetable on its own, it springs water and I like mine with gravy not dry so that's the reason I didn't cook it down till the sauce dried out.
