A typical Guyanese dinner combination, dhal and rice with any combination of side dishes. Any green spinach, fry fish, eggplant choka, coconut choka, sauté karalla, ochro, pumpkin or a combination of potato dishes…the possibilities are endless.
Fry Basa Fish
3 lbs Basa Fish
3 heaped tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp lemon juice
2-3 tsp chili pepper
3 tsp curry powder.
Salt to taste.
Mustard spinach (bajie)
2 lbs Baby Mustard
2 medium onions
5 clove garlic
2 wiri wiri pepper
2 large tomatoes
0il for cooking
Salt to taste.
Shrimp optional.
Dhal (Split peas)
2 cup dhal (split peas)
15 clove garlic.
1 medium onion
1 wiri wiri pepper
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp Garam masala
Salt to taste
Eggplant Choka
2 medium eggplant
4 clove garlic
2 wiri wiri pepper
1 small onion
2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
1 tomato optional.

Please wash the vegetables first and then cut them. If you first cut the vegetables and then wash them, many vitamins are lost. Our body needs vitamins so that we stay healthy.

Yep sinks has lots of bacteria which spreads on countertop ,so Ms using a bowl or basin to clean and washes fish or chickens, because u are spreading germs to one area to the nest, no disrespect to u .thank u for sharing the preps of your cooking 🍳

Looks very good and tasty. I agree with the comment earlier that we should use a bowl to wash ingredients rather than wash them in the sink directly. I don't know if you can use plastic in a microwave safely. I am an Indian living in the USA. We do not separate skins from the rest of the eggplant ot tomatoes. Thank you for sharing your cooking.

Hi Aunty, just stumbled upon your channel and subscribed. This meal is a delicious combination, all of my fav. I wanted to mention, please avoid microwaving the eggplant, microwave has high radiation and is not good for your health, off course we all use it, but it should be avoided when possible. Instead u can slice the eggplant in half, brush with avocado oil, salt and bake at 400, also u can roast garlic and tomato in the same tray. Best wishes from Toronto! 🇬🇾

That is too much spices. I only use salt, black pepper and turmeric and it fry and taste very delicious.

When the pressure cooker starts to blow you are supposed to lower the heat to low and cook for 10/12 minutes.

You need to wash the mustard first to get out the sand and dirt, drain it then cut it up. You have mustard and sand there cooking

You have given me some great recipes in this vlog that I am going to try. I like the way you do things so that I don't have to go out and buy complicated or expensive ingredients, most things are using everyday foods and spices. I really appreciate this. Loved everything that you made but just curious about cooking baigan and tomatoes in plastic wrap in microwave. Not sure if it is safe to cook that way because its plastic and in contact with food that too under high temperature.

Good night guys your flowers 🌸 are beautiful I wish you had put out this video last week on Saturday I made dhal and that same fish 🐠 never cooked it before so tried to make it it’s a very soft fish didn’t like it at all I threw it out and had dhal and Roti I see you didn’t defrost your filly but I will never cook that fish again, your food looks delicious 🤤 thanks for sharing.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Hi sorry for the late reply. I don't usually assume what some one is doing wrong, we all do stuff differently 😊. How I do mine, I seasoned with salt, chili powder, garlic powder, curry powder and lemon juice. Not too much curry powder average just enough for taste. When frying DON'T USED FLOUR. Flour form a skin, which cause the fish to be mushy inside. Keep oil at good temperature and let the fish fry slowly, too cold will let the fish soak, too hot it will burn outside and inside will be mushy. When you think it's done frying, try one, then take it out or fry more. Remember no FLOUR on this fish, and oil temperature. Try it again, this fish taste great. Happy cooking 😊🎉❤
