Great video, Workspaces have been much needed, the ability to add groups is massive for an Enterprise.

Great updates! Thank you for bringing these changes to Workspace.

Thank you Adam for explaining the differences so succinctly! I really like the fact that this is being separated from the 365 groups. Microsoft made it a little too easy with things like PowerBI/Teams/SharePoint for every Tom, Dick, and Harry to create those groups, and it can create a lot of sprawl in larger organizations.

Love that term 'sprawl'. So true!

Hi Adam, Say I have a scenario where some users who only want to see a couple reports while some users want to see a different couple reports/dashboards. From what I understand you can only create one app per app workspace which publishes all reports and dashboards in the workspace. To deal with this scenario, is using an app workspace the best practice?
@alt-enter2375 жыл бұрын
@Joseph--an app workspace doesn't automatically publish ALL the reports and dashboards. The creator/publisher of the app for the workspace decides which content from an app workspace will be published through a toggle switch. However, if you have some content in one app workspace that you want to publish in an audience restricted app, and then other content in that app that you want to publish to an open-audience app, you WOULD have to create two separate app workspaces. It's a bit kludgy b/c to my knowledge, you can't copy content from one app workspace to another (but happy to be wrong if someone else knows differently).

Great features ! I have one doubt, if i have group of user and i am adding that group to workspace and wants some of user as admin,some as viewer,etc. because when i am adding group it will allow us to select single property from dropdown.

A group can only be added to one level. If you require different levels, then you would either need to add those users individually, or have separate groups for those permissions.

Thanks Adam. Great new workspace. When is the RLS coming ? We have to use the old Workspace for RLS to work ?

I am looking for materials on the best practice for Dataset in PowerBI service workspace.

Hey Adam, Great video and thank you. Currently MS Teams doesn't support the new "APPS" security. Meaning......when I publish a couple reports in my app workspace to an app and then give users access to the app. They aren't able to view the data when I embed it in teams (they just see X's on all the visuals). BUT when I make those same users a member of the actual "APP WORKSPACE" and not just the published app..... then they can see the report in teams. Do you know if they plan on fixing this?
@alt-enter2375 жыл бұрын
@Noah--This is a conundrum. From what I know, if you want to publish a report to Teams that exists in a Power BI workspace, there needs to be overlapping membership. Meaning, I need to be a member of the Team, AND a member of the Power BI Workspace. One possibility to help with this (maybe) is to create a private channel (a newish feature in Teams), and make ONLY those users overlap with the Workspace in Power BI. Either way, you have an administration task.

Hey can you explain diff btw standard and dedicated workspaces?
@alt-enter2375 жыл бұрын
By dedicated workspaces, do you mean workspaces backed by Premium capacity?
@DanielWeikert5 жыл бұрын
So when we create a group in teams then this will automatically show up in Power BI as a workspace?
@alt-enter2375 жыл бұрын
Yes, at the time of this video. It may have changed by now (early 2020)
