Enjoy this deleted scene from Guy's Garage, exclusive to KZbin! Apologies for the mix issues with the soundtrack. This scene never made the final cut, so it didn't get that final polish! Still, plenty to enjoy!

What I love most about this is that Guy took the time, paid attention to what he was being told, learned the lesson, and then went an applied what he'd learned. An excellent student with a perfect, generous teacher who knew what he needed. And I should have paid closer attention to catch her name. Sorry.

This is what I used to do a while back. Started with a 2.1L pinto powered MK1 escort and then into a tuned 1380 mini. So much fun on a small-ish budget
@markw1915 Жыл бұрын
OMG your 1380 mini post brought back SOOOO many memories I just had to reply 😊 I bought my mates ex grass track/ rally race mini back in the day, it had a blueprint 1.3L metro race engine, uprated everything including suspension, gearbox, mad bucket seats, wide arches and huge wide wheels on spacers, semi slick road tyres, exhaust, clutch etc etc not much was standard apart from the walnut dash (I think it was walnut?) and some original Smiths dials and some body panels. It was converted for legal road use. Properly quick, it would smash most expensive supercars from 0-60/70 but wouldn't go much faster than 80 due to its gearing 😢 Had a cherry bomb exhaust for a while that made it sound like a burbling V8, could hear it from a mile away on full chat, then I'd rock up in my little mini and confusion ensued 😂 Totally mental machine in awesome metallic British Racing Green with a plain white roof, absolutely loved it! New road emissions testing made it illegal to drive on road bcuz the system allowed too much unburnt fuel thru on idle and so it wouldn't pass the newer emissions tests on an MOT, it was born to race and just wouldnt idle/run like it needed to, even had a mobile tuner come out with a van full of expensive gismos and he couldn't fix it without fitting a new engine, we tried new injectors etc but it just wasn't having it, failed MOT every time on that emissions bit, and back then it was kinda impossible to sort out without a new engine etc which wouldn't have been the same thrill. Nowadays it would prob either be able to be fixed or just be totally illegal for sooo many more reasons 😂 was fun while it lasted tho. I loved the reaction/ look on people's faces, the grip was phenomenal, especially on windy B roads, most had no idea it was so fast to 60 or could corner like it was on rails at those speeds, being pinned to the seats yelling woohoo or stoooop depending on their surprise 😂 I changed jobs and it made sense to let it go to a mechanic neighbour to 'tinker' with, he couldn't sort it and sold it for parts eventually, a sad sad day, but those memories will last me a lifetime. Peace 👍

Autograss is great fun and an inexpensive way to get into a form of racing. A friend of mine had a Car back in the late 80s, early 90s that we used to race. Once you get the hang of it, it is thoroughly enjoyable and a great way to spend a weekend.

I accidentally did this when I was younger, driving custom buggies with minimal suspension, little 6hp motors and one speed, cut an autocross course into the grass of a paddock, had a bunch of friends come over and teach them to not kill themselves. Mind you I’m a farm boy who has been driving since I could reach the pedals, and these friends had grown up in town with little to no driving experience. Fun time by all, I would lead them in the slow kart on the first lap, then show them exactly what to and what not to do, then smoke them on a quad on two wheels. Good day, cheap on fuel seeing as the engines were made for high revs all the time. It also really humbled all of them, and got them over their fears of driving and taught them how to control slides on loose and slippery ground.

in america we have sprint car racing. similar to this except the tracks are closer to a half or quarter mile and the sprint cars have 900+ horsepower, the engine is in the front and tracks are banked. also the rear wheels arent the same size so she doesnt wanna go straight. they come out of a three wheeled turn onto the straight and hammer a wheelie at over 100 mph down a straightaway to drift again into the next turn just like you guys do here. many nascar drivers cut there teeth in the sprint car divisions, and still do to this day.
