Sometimes I get so angry when people tell me that "being on your period" isn't a proper excuse for staying home in bed. I used to get fevers and get cramps so bad that I'd throw up. I'd lie on the floor for about 2 hours just crying because I'd become pretty much physically immobile. And then people told me "come on, doesn't this happen every month?" YES EXACTLY so leave me alone, I know how to handle it by now. Luckily I went to the doctor and got pills so my cramps are a lot more manageable, but it still pisses me off when people don't understand that I sometimes feel fatigued and just wanna sleep.

+threasa arangamparambil so let me get this straight. If someone has, like, a serious disease or if they were born with a missing arm they have no right to complain about how much it bothers them? Do you think we spend all our time complaining about our periods? Do you think those two comment were us complaining about out PERIODS??? I'm 19, I've had my period since I was 12 I know how to fucking handle it by now, what I was complaining about is people like you who don't GET that even if it happens every month IT'S NOT ALWAYS EASY! It's like saying "hey, you've broken your arm before right, why are you complaining?" Maybe because it hurts. It's not like we think it'll change anything but it's nice to talk to someone who knows what it's like. I rarely ever complain about it because it won't change anything, but I will damn well complain about people who tell me it's no big deal. I'm just minding my own laying at home throwing up once a month. YOU WANNA SWITCH? No? Then SHUT UP!
@MilieNopeNotHere8 жыл бұрын
+threasa arangamparambil don't tell me to power through, do you really think that that's not what I'm doing? I get a 40*C fever once a month, I throw up, I cry but I don't complain about it I just let it happen because what can I do. But when people tell me "come on, let's get a drink, it's just a period why don't you just power through?" I get fucking pissed because you don't know what it feels like. And even though you say that it's not to be taken personal it is freaking personal when you tell us to "just power through" because people like you are exactly the problem that we complain about. Neither one of us complained about our periods, we complained about ignorant people. So please don't tell us to just power through, because that's exactly what we're doing.

@@notsuredc girls...using a tampon is not you losing your virginity. That makes no sense. Are you worried about the hymen? Its a thin bit of tissue some women have that surround the vaginal wall. It is not a coverings. Furthermore when it "tears" if it does if you have one you most likely wont even know. A gynecologist cannot even look at you and tell if you've lost your virginity. You only lose that by having a penis in your vagina. I have used all three, pads tampons and a diva cup. I dispised pads because they smell and are bulky in your underwear so people know you wear one. Tampons are completely safe unless left in your vagina for days which is why they recommend 6-8 hours because they know 12-24 hours is safe but people always push past time limits. Periods have only recently become more talked about. Tampons also do not hurt, nor do they move once inserted. It is completely fine to choose whatever works for your body, but dont be ignorant

i got my first period in eighth grade. i was in 9th period technology and my stomach hurt really bad but i thought it was just my usual pain (i have a digestive problem). anyways, i had to pee so i went to the bathroom and sat down and as soon as i saw my underwear i screeched, periods were completely out of my mind at the time and i thought i was dying because back then my stomach issues hadn't been explained and i thought there was something horribly wrong with me. next thing i know, i'm hearing the male earth science teacher in the women's bathroom's doorway saying "is everything alright in there ?" luckily, i remembered what periods were and answered back a horrified "yeah". so, i began to assess the situation. i was wearing a white dress and i started freaking out and just my luck, when i checked the back of it there was a line about the width of a quarter on my butt. yeah, really fun. i started freaking out, it was spring and i didn't have any other clothes at school (ex. jacket, coat) and there was no way i was gonna walk around with blood on my arse. luckily though, i think the world decided to throw me a bone, when walked out of the bathroom and i saw this guy that i didn't know _that_ well back then because he's 2 years older than me but i had a tini crush on him at the time. now, you would think that this would be a horrible situation, that i would be mortified, etc. but even though it was embarrassing af at the time, i'm glad it happened. he kindly informed me of the mark even though i already knew and offered me one of his sweaters to wrap around my waist. he was super nice and even gave me his chocolate that apparently was in his lunch that he wanted to save for later. he helped me find his older sister and she hooked me up with some tampons so that i'd be okay. long story short, he was super kind and even walked me back to technology, telling the technology teacher that we had to help a kid who'd gotten sick in the hallway so that i wouldn't be in trouble for being so late. i'm fairly good friends with him now but i've fallen in love with him over the years. he's kind, funny, creative, cute, and talented, i mean, what do you expect ? kinda sucks cause i don't think he'll never see me that way but atleast i got to know him. weirdly enough, i have my first period to thank for that. so, uh, thank you womanhood...i guess

Never had toxic shock syndrome, and I sometimes were them to sleep, but only if I know I’ll sleep less than 8 hours.
@starstruck3986 жыл бұрын
Luna Safire But there is still a chance of it happening. And if you do get it, TSS is deadly and most-likey will lead to amputations or becoming critically ill. There are risk factors that come along with tampons and that's something that's a fact.

He asked me how often you get a period and I said every month. He was shocked. "I thought you only got them like once every three months or something. Wow I feel even more sorry for you..." If only we had them that often...

@PoptropiCoffin7 жыл бұрын
I wish boys were more educated about periods. Like no wonder were supposed to hide our pads, they think we can hold it in! So here are some of my answers for boys watching this and some extra stuff you mightve not known. So first of all, almost all periods are different. Some have heavy flow, some have really little flow. You cant control when your period comes most of the time. You can usually tell around about the time you get your period after about a year of getting it when usually your cycle settles down and has more consistent time slots. you can not hold the blood in AT ALL. It usually comes while your sleeping, but there can be times where it will come in the middle of the day, before you go to bed, or when you wake up. For most girls, the first day is the worst of the period. Today i started and ive already thrown up twice. Some people can have little to no cramps and some people can actually go to the hospital for it. Some people have inconsistent cycles, but most girls dont. Some side affects of period are heightened emotions, drowsiness, bloating, and cramping. There are also side effects that happen while youre on your period like PMDD that can cause you to be depressed or suicidal. Now here are some opinions. If a girl is acting emotional, please never ask her if shes on her period. First of all its rude and second of all they may have side effects like PMDD which cause them to be depressed, sad, and possibly suicidal. If a girl is bleeding through her pants, ALWAYS tell her. It is much less embarrassing to be able to catch it before the whole school or work sees. Also, dont freak out if a girl is bleeding through or takes out a menstrual product, it makes us feel like we have a disease. Lots of times me and a lot of other girls crave sweet foods to eat. I also experience on my period that at one moment i will be staring and the next i cant stand the sight of food. If a girl tells you shes on her period, act sympathetic. Just because you dont think it hurts as much as getting kicked in the balls doesnt mean that it doesnt hurt. Basically, be nice to them, stay calm, and just chill. Knowing a lot about periods is actually helpful for if you get a girlfriend, wife sister, or friend thats a girl. Its not embarrassing to know about them and its not embarrassing to have them.

My first thought every time I get my period is “yes! I’m no pregnant” even though I haven’t slept with anyone in months. My second is always “Jesus Christ, I hate being a girl.” My first period I was 12 & at my male cousin’s house & I freaked out when I saw the blood. I had a mild panic attack in his bathroom & finally had to walk out into the loungeroom & told him I was bleeding. He freaked because he thought my mom would kill him if I got hurt while I was with him. I’m like, “no, I have my period.” He kinda just stares at me and demands “why would you tell me that?!” Thank God his roommates girlfriend was there, & went out for pads, because God my cousin is an idiot & his roommate hid in his bedroom like periods were contagious.

Also, THE LINE WAS REALLY LONG! Sooooo, I kinda started to feel dizzy, I fell to the ground and passed out for 10 seconds. Woke up to a guy who happened to be a doctor and saying "Are you ok?" I was like what happened why am I on the floor? Then I hear the subway manager talking to 999 and having an ambulance come for me. Went to A &E to get my blood pressure checked, everything's fine now! It was very scary because I had never fainted before, it actually just felt like I fell asleep and woke up in subway lmao. So, with my first period...I was a freshman in high school. It was the end of the day, and I started getting some pains in my stomach and lower back. I thought it had been because I had been standing, and sitting in uncomfortable chairs. I went home, and went to the bathroom, and I saw my underwear was darker than usual (I was wearing red underwear at the time). My dad was home at the time. I walk out of the bathroom, underwear around my knees, and call out to my dad ‘Hey, dad! Is this my period?!” He walks over, looks down, and says “Mazel Tov! You’re a woman!”

I got my period when I was in 5th grade. We had a family gathering at my grandma's house and I wiped and saw blood. I thought I was dying so I opened the bathroom door and yelled out, in front of ALL my relatives, that my butt was bleeding. They all started cheering and I'm just thinking to myself, "damn I didn't know you were all waiting for my death!"

I remember when I first got my period, I didn't want to tell my mom because I was too embarrassed. I went my first cycle with no pads and tampons or anything and I leaked through so many underwear! Luckily, no one noticed because I always wore sweaters so I just tied it over my hips to hide the blood. Their was this one point were I also bled through my sweater and I kinda just sat at outside school waiting for my mom to pick me up feeling super uncomfortable and just wishing I could be home curled up in my bed eating Oreos. My mom found out soon after when she was doing laundry. She was totally cool with it actually and now I wish I just told her in the first place.

I was 13. I was taking a shower at my home . *scrub, scrub , leg , scrub* *looks down* Oh.... I guess I started my period *calmly finishes the shower* Then I took a pad out of my closet (Mom gave me one just in case cause her's started when she was 14) and googled how to use it. Then I put it on and told my parents. They congratulated me and I asked my Mom to buy me tampons (she had no idea what it was , so I told her where to buy it) P.S. the reason it went so smoothly was because I was mentally prepared for my period from when I was 10 years old (thanks to Google) In fact , I was actually worried that when will I get my period.😅 (please don't call me a wierdo!😢)

Then I had my best friend's mom call my mom to tell her I got my period. When she hung up, she turned to me and said "Now you're part of the club" and my friend was behind her like "mom, stop it you are embarrassing me" while I was thinking "But...I don't want to be in the club". And after that my best friend and I went to another's friend house for a pajama party, and all the night I had my best friend acting like my mom trying to help me with my period.

At least, some people acknowledge it and at the least try to understand. I am a woman myself. If only I had those kinds of people around me who would say, even if I don't understand your pain, but I acknowledge it. You are in pain and I feel you and see you.
