Penny genuinely makes a great point and so does this show. I'm sure every smart kid has-been bullied by someone like Zak but most people grow up and gain some prospective. Maybe Zak is the one who is lonely now and needs friends. As Penny said for a group that was bullied doesn't give anyone the morale high ground to then bully someone else. Zak in this comes across really likeable and I can relate as the smart kid I've made friends with people I wouldn't have been friends with at school aka the cool kids. Are you sure you aren't thinking one of Penny's other boyfriends? I remember there was at least one other dumb boyfriend she had that actually was a bully and I think he mooched off of her. I am actually curious, I have looked at a list of episodes Zack was in and can't find any mentions of him being mean in any of them. In fact I only see the opposite, him showing Leonard a video of Penny admitting she loved Leonard and only dumped him cause she was scared of commitment and later offering Penny and Leonard a large sum of money if Leonard would donate sperm so Zack and his wife could conceive a child. On another note, I could understand why the group bullied Zack, not saying it was right but I understand it. He has money, looks, athletic ability, and is very dumb, those are all traits of typical popular kids in high school that would bully people like them. So with all that they see him as a representation of those that bullied them and either don't realize or can't believe that Zack is genuinely a nice guy.

On top of that we don't know if Zack was a bully back in the day thus making it possible that there was no karma involved.
