@@Euromillionwinning No problems getting VISA. We existed plane, got in the VISA line, paid our fee. Then we walked through customs. I carried a USA passport. My partner carried a MEXICAN passport. An under cover customs officer did stop my partner to ask "Do you smoke?" At first, I was assertive. "Who are you to ask this question?". We were taken aback by that weird question. We are both over 60 and have NEVER smoked. So we both said "no". I don't know if he wanted a cigarette? It was weird. Egypt is weird! In re family (who are in Alexandria and whom I dont know well) since I am heading south of Cairo (luxor aswan, etc) , I may not get chance to see my north egyptian relatives on this trip. I have a second trip planned for October and hope to meet up with them then. I just called up t-mobile and had them give me international coverage. I saw your video on the sim card and due to my good standing with t-mobile, I pretty much got unlimited data while in egypt, with calls costing only $.25 cents. Let me update you on my travel experience to Egypt. As GCC residents, my husband and I traveled to Egypt. Presenting our residency permits (iqama), we smoothly navigated through the visa process. Without sticker visas, we traveled after they saw our exit stamp from Saudi Arabia. However, it's worth noting the airline's requirement for a visa. To meet this requirement, we obtained an e-visa from atyls, saving us $25
@Gventures10 ай бұрын
How did obtaining a visa from Atlys save you $25, you still have to pay Atlys so either way you are spending money. Also, you say it's worth noting the airline's requirement for a visa. So what airline was that then?
@Modestfashionwithshumayla10 ай бұрын
No, we have only paid 2000 INR to Atlys, which means we have saved 2000 INR by not purchasing a sticker visa. Previously, EgyptAirways stated that Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available for GCC residents, but since we traveled via Air Arabia, we presented our e-visa to them. Otherwise, EgyptAirways only requires ticket verification; they do not need the e-visa.@@Gventures

@Gventures Жыл бұрын
Hmm. Most people that stay in hostels for 6 months or more don't stay in the same one the entire time, they move around to different hostels depending on availability. You could book for a month and then halfway through that month ask to book another month in advance, and ask for a discount because you are staying longer. Then just keep doing that. Otherwise, yes Airbnb is the other option.

@Gventures8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, I really appreciate you watching, and I really wish I had an answer for you. But unfortunately, it does seem to get very complicated very quickly. I've had the same questions you are asking now from many different nationalities. People from Middle Eastern countries but with some type of visa from Europe have asked this question, as well as people from India, other parts of Asia, etc. I honestly can't research each continent and every country and make a video that has an answer for everybody, and even if I somehow did manage to do that, I would be getting my information the same way anyone else can - by doing some heavy research on the internet. It is exhausting work and I'm not even sure if I trust the information on the internet which I would put into a video, which is another reason why I haven't made a lengthy video about it that answers every single country's citizens questions. I made a video about the visa on arrival for countries that I am sure can get one (including my own as a US citizen), but I don't want to make a video with incorrect information, hence I haven't and don't plan on making another one for the many other nationalities that exist around the world. I'm very sorry I cannot honor your request, but I do wish you the best of luck.

I am by no means an expert on this stuff, I have just researched a bit, I've been living here a few years and know about the process as an individual entering the country, so I've made a few videos giving some basic info to people that do not know anything about it. But I do not want to answer your question with any great certainty. I do not work for the airlines or the embassy, so I can't give you any solid information on that. I also did not say the only document you are able to use to obtain the visa is a passport. In fact, I literally say in the video that some European citizens are able to enter with their national ID card. I am a US citizen and entered Egypt with no return ticket, and I had no problems, that is fine. But about your middle name and tickets and passport differences? I will not speak on that, I haven't a clue. Contact an embassy or your airline, or both, about that. Or you can try to research it on your own. While KZbin videos can be helpful, I would personally never trust a stranger person on the internet who makes videos to give me an answer to such an important question. These types of questions should be asked to a trusted official (like an embassy or the airlines).

@Gventures hello, I just came back from Egypt. As of this writing one can avail of visa on arrival (25usd) if the person is a GCC resident or if you have a used US visa (I assume UK and Schengen visas will work as well, as they advertised). Thought your viewers might be interested to know. More power!

I am interested in visiting Egypt next year and i read in many visa articles that you can get visa on arrival if you have a valid and used US visa. I know somebody who was granted with VoA in cairo airport last September and I am not sure if this is still the case. Also in you article you link it says "Some nationalities need a valid visa issued by countries in the Schengen Area, the US, the UK, Japan, or New Zealand to get a visa on arrival in Egypt." Do you have any information about this. ? I am a Philippine passport holder with a valid and used US visa.

No, you don't need that here. There is no risk of yellow fever in Egypt. However, travelers 9 months and older arriving from countries WITH risk for yellow fever must provide proof of vaccination. @Gventures Жыл бұрын
Uh oh, I think you need to research this more! I am not sure if you need a transit visa or not, I think that depends on the airline, and if you need to exit the airport to get to a different terminal or not. I heard if it was 6 hours or more you need a transit visa, but I can't confirm that. Pretty sure you won't be able to leave the airport without a transit visa, and Canadians currently need to apply for a visa at an embassy, you aren't able to get a visa on arrival or an e-visa like you used to be able to.

Where to exchange money and not be ripped off...? Well, anywhere, really. Airports don't always have the best exchange rates or they at least tend to have higher fees, so I recommend doing it within the city at an exchange office or at any bank. Hey Im coming to egypt in september, in general do they accept english money I'm coming from england. Someone told me they like it. Thankyou
@Gventures7 ай бұрын
I have never used GBP here so I have no idea. But I generally recommend anyone, regardless of who they are or where they are coming from, to exchange their money into the local currency. It's just the normal thing people must do when traveling around the world, use the local currency. It's also the wisest thing to do so that you know you are paying the accurate amount, you don't want to be arguing about the current exchange rates with everyone. Nobody can refuse you with EGP; all taxis, street vendors, restaurants, etc. must and will accept EGP. The same cannot be said about GBP. Yes, there are people who may want it or like it (at least for USD, I get asked every so often if I have a dollar - usually I am just being asked to give them a dollar though 😅, not pay for something in dollars), but not everyone will accept it and in my opinion it's just better to use EGP. If you want maybe just exchange some GBP to EGP, then go around trying to pay in GBP (with EGP as backup if they say no), and if it's not an issue for anyone, you can start using GBP. But you will probably be paying more for things than you should be paying with that approach.
@Octopussydelica7 ай бұрын
@@Gventures yeah I will use EGP I just didn't know if it was handy carrying some pounds sterling just incase , a guy I know said to me that when he visited the people seemed to like english currency is good for the economy or maybe It was just mumble jumble pub talk😂. How do I find out about any live music that may be going on in cairo when I'm there?
@Gventures7 ай бұрын
@@Octopussydelica No it wasn't just mumbo jumbo 😂People do like foreign currency here, but who actually wants it can be quite random. Exchange some and keep a bit if you'd like, so that if someone asks for a bill you can donate it to them, or keep it for someone that may prefer to get paid with that. The economic crisis had EVERYONE wanting dollars at one point (black market exchange rate was around 70 at one point) and in general foreign currency is more stable, but things have leveled out a bit and I am not hearing people ask for it as much as they have in the past. I just prefer to pay in EGP because it is precisely accurate to what you should be paying and won't be refused, but yes, some people like foreign currency (in tourist areas or for tipping, maybe). Live music isn't a big thing here, sadly. Cairo Jazz Club is about the only place I can recommend, or the opera house 😅 I am sure there are more places that have live music but they are far and few in between, with no guarantees on when they are playing

Yes. Just remember you are only allowed to be in the country for 3 months at a time with that visa, then you are required to leave. EXCEPT there's also a multiple entry one that's valid for 6mo.. and no one, including Egypt officials, have been able to tell me how long per stay you're allowed to be in the country. lol
@Gventures8 ай бұрын
EXCEPT that the multiple entry visa is not a visa on arrival, it's an e-visa honey (which I talk about in a separate video I made), and that "6 month" e-visa just means that it's VALID for 6 months from the start date, but you are still not allowed to stay within the country more than 30 consecutive days with that visa. And no Egyptian official can tell you how much time you are allowed inside the country per stay because if you are extending your visa at the immigration office (which is a completely separate matter from the topics mentioned above), it will depend entirely on the immigration officer, your nationality, purpose of stay, etc. Too many factors for an immigration officer to give you a straight or solid answer. There's also a 14 day grace period for anyone entering the country, regardless of what kind of visa they have entered with (that policy has existed since COVID). I live here, so if you're confused about anything else, let me know 😉
@alisa57798 ай бұрын
@@Gventures I'm getting so much conflicting info from everywhere. The evisa website says that with a multiple entry visa you stay for only 30 consecutive days, but when I emailed the Egyptian embassy to ask, they said I get 90 days per stay. These are both supposedly official sources but they're not even in agreement with each other. One thing every website and source I checked does agree on is that you CAN get multiple entry on arrival (the 180 day validity one). I tried doing it on the website and the website does not function (common complaint), it does very illogical things and it's often impossible to get a visa done through it. I'm traveling soon and I need a multiple entry one.
@Gventures8 ай бұрын
@@alisa5779 I can assure you the multiple entry visa does not allow you 90 consecutive days within the country. Any multiple entry visa you get will only allow you 30 consecutive days inside the country, then you are supposed to exit the country and re-enter. This is a good option for people that are maybe visiting Jordan after Egypt and then returning to Egypt after. If someone emailed you telling you it is good for 90 days per stay, they meant it is valid for 90 days, but not that you are able to stay 90 consecutive days. Perhaps there was some language barrier or miscommunication, it is quite common here. I researched this before I came to Egypt 2.5 years ago trying to find a 3 month visa where I wasn't required to leave the country at all, and there is no option for it. Any multiple entry visa you get will not be available on arrival, you can search that on the internet and find this response: "The multiple entry visa is issued as an eVisa or electronic visa. The Egyptian authorities do not issue multiple entry visas as visas on arrival, so visitors must have them before traveling." Apr 4, 2023 I have entered Egypt many times, always with a visa on arrival, and there is only one option - 30 days. They do not offer you anything else. Although now there is the 5 year visa, which costs $700 USD and allows you 90 consecutive days within the country at a time. Also, yes the e-visa government website sucks 🤣But there are many online companies where you can get it from if you are having issues with the official Egyptian website. You can also extend your visa once in the country (there are immigration offices in Sharm, Hurghada, Cairo, etc.), a pain in the ass but it's an option. Or you can overstay and pay a fine on the way out 🤣I know quite a few people who have done this, one guy overstayed by 6 months and paid a fine of around $100 I think it was, although maybe that fine is more now. He has come back since then with no issues, so he wasn't banned or anything, they just made him pay money at the airport when he was leaving. I don't like that though, and there is a risk you might have problems at checkpoints or hostels/hotels when checking in. One last thing, be aware that if you are getting a local SIM card, that SIM card will only work for as long as your visa is valid. Once your visa expires, your SIM card will stop working. That truly is a pain in the ass. Bring your passport anytime you are getting a SIM card or renewing your SIM.
