Great guide! I went to some high end/posh restaurants and cafes in Egypt whilst paying very little money. It was really gratifying compared to over priced western destinations. Can you imagine paying €20 euro for a coffee around $22 in Venice, Italy!? That is scamming! Egypt is more than worth coming too for so many reasons.
@Gventures10 ай бұрын
You paid $22 for a coffee in Venice?! Yikes. It is very expensive of course in Venice, especially when compared to a country like Egypt which is developing and also suffering from economic issues, but I never paid $22 for a coffee while there! I think it is best to try and find the local spots in any area though, if you go to a place near any tourist attractions of with "amazing views" the prices are always much higher

I think what I have shown reflects many stores prices and certainly gives a viewer who is not living in Egypt an idea of the cost of things here.

Hi Giselle, we plan to be in Cairo in mid march, I see you’re dress in jacket and scarf, should we plan on bringing long sleeve shirts and a jacket and sweatshirt. Also coming from the states how bad is the jet lag the first day? Enjoying your videos. Thanks for posting.

March will be much warmer than it is now, but it's hard to say for sure. It all depends on where you are in the country as well. Near the sea and also south is significantly warmer than where I am in Cairo. You can look up the average temps around the country in March, I have found google to be quite accurate about that. Bear in mind I have also acclimated to the temperatures here in Egypt because I've been living here 2 years. During the day it can still feel quite warm, especially if you're moving around a lot and exploring. Jet lag is another tough question, I think it depends on each individuals body. You could do a quick google search about it and see what they recommend. Since I travel a lot I have also written down some "hacks" to jet lag, which you can research more about on your own if you'd like: -melatonin (flight attendant friend told me about this-if you struggle to sleep at a reasonable hour when you first arrive) -doxylamine, (not diphenhydramine) regular Walmart stuff sleep aid -Time Shifter app -don’t eat after 5pm, go to bed at a “normal time”, then wake up early and eat. This should hopefully kick start your circadian rhythm to be more in sync with the new time zone -Argonne diet for jet lag. It was designed for folks in special forces who have to be alert as soon as their flight lands

Thanks for the information. I leave for Egypt 9 days they wanted to charge $30pp for transport from the airport to the hotel but now I'll be catching uber for $6.15.

Hell yeah 😎 Airport transfers are a ripoff. Sure it's easier for some people, but I am all about saving money 😅 Watch this video for more info about where to catch Uber in the airport kzbin.info/www/bejne/f52ZoY18nN6flas

Thank you for this! Does conversion happen automatically with use of debit or credit cards? Should we have cash?
@Gventures10 ай бұрын
Yes conversion happens automatically when you use a card. Some places do charge an additional 3% of your bill though, and it's quite random. Also, not every place accepts cards, especially small stores, local cafes, and of course any markets, amongst a few other things. I would recommend having Egyptian pounds for things like that. If you are taking tours or tipping hotel staff, feel free to tip in USD/euros/GBP, as foreign currency has a higher value right now and most people would prefer it to EGP. Most ancient sites must be paid by card now, be aware of that as well. I made a video briefly talking about some of this, I'll leave the link in case you haven't seen it and would like to. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f52ZoY18nN6flas

I'm not sure how that tuk tuk managed to stay upright! I like the look of El Horreya bar, have you done a vlog of all the bars? A video record of a pub crawl around the moody boozers of Cairo and/or Alexandria would be a good watch. Cheers 🍻
@Gventures10 ай бұрын
Would be cool to show but unfortunately almost impossible, it's usually not allowed to film in bars, which is why any time I have they are short clips and almost never show the people inside, for privacy reasons. I did make a video about Cairo nightlife which shows a little...kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKCug4iAoLqBqck
