Yeah, when I started to collect Warhammer Fantasy, I had one unit of skeletons for Vampire Counts in which at least three or four of them were just an arm and a skull "raising" from a tombstone, because I didn't have enough legs or torsos to make more. For me most of the fun of the game comes from having the army as I envision, which means that most of the time I am actually using 3rd party prints to either enhance or completely replace GW figures, so whatever they say about it, I really don't care. But it sucks for people who actually want to take part on official things. Although however I learnt the other day that most of the competitive 40k is actually player driven, so GW has no input on it, which is cool.

It's not a petty dispute, it's an accounting issue. Games Workshop wants to know how well each of its production lines is performing. 40K players bought Horus Heresy models to use in 40k, but it made GW think Horus Heresy was more popular than it was - causing management to make an error and put too much resources into Horus Heresy. So now GW wants to separate the markets as much as possible, so they can know how popular each game system is. They can't tell if you're buying Blood Bowl kits for Blood Bowl or for kitbashing. If they disallow using Blood Bowl for kitbashing, it makes it obvious that Blood Bowl players are buying Blood Bowl for Blood Bowl. And the "woke idiots in the company" complaint is nonsense. That’s a bit overblown, don’t you think? The models do not vanish into dust courtesy a GW Thanos finger snap. You can keep using them beyond their date of rotation. Or are you seriously suggesting you are going to buy a single kill team for all time and never once consider another one? I for one would rather know how long there’s official rules support than not know. What made me angry was the great 30k/40k purge at the dawn of the edition as it hit without warning and was effectively immediate. Even then, my anger is softened some because I still have my contemptors and nothing is stopping me from running them. Unless you play tournaments, the rotation or legends really doesn’t impact you all that much
@ErgonomicChair21 сағат бұрын
@@timunderbakke8756 No, you cannot. LGS will not facilitate older edition teams, and they cannot they SHOULD not be expected to do so. Just like LGS will not ref older versions of 40k despite what a lot of people will lie and claim, they do not, and will not. A new player can walk into a store, fall in love with a killteam box on the shelf... and then buy it, and with ZERO WARNING discover that they might have bought a team at the end of an edition and they now only have 1-2 years to assemble, paint, and play this team. After that, it is expired. It is as good as garbage, it is worth less than the plastic its made with. You can't resell it at this point because who wants un-usable models, you can't play with them in any serious sense. The rules will become out-of date with mechanics that are added to later editions, and unless you are going to personally force your friends to not play more modern rulesets etc... that team is worthless now. So yes, there is literally an expiration date on these miniatures with zero warning or indication of how horrible this is. This is one of the least confumer friendly moves GW could do, no, it is THE WORST thing they have done so far for new players, period. It's disgusting, and defending it? Is antithetical to the health of our community and the game systems. Where a new player can get completely screwed over because they liked something... let alone a veteran player that falls in love with the rules and the play style or lore of a team, has to stop using them after 2-4 years. The rules are FREE now. THey are DIGITAL. They could easily pay for 1-2 extra employees to ensure that all teams, even unclassified, are viable and functional in later editions. bUt right now that is not what happens, a team is completely incompatible after 2 editions ALWAYS.

I don’t see why that rule existed/exists at all, not just the kitbashing part. This is a high end official competition, the contestants aren’t gonna waste their time, money, and chance at winning by making obvious mixes of different settings. If they were to mix settings at all, it would be in a way that would be creative and work. This rule exits to prevent a problem that doesn’t exist and just stifles creativity, which is the entire point of the competition.

Funnily enough, the number of official GW tournaments that people care about is so small that they can talk about such stuff all day long and noone will care. Most official GW shops don't give a single F either. It's hard to expect that every shop employee will know every miniature/bits from the huge range GW has. With 3d printing and scanned miniatures around it's even more hard too tell if that particular mini that one of the players took with him is 3d printed or original. GW war against it is pointless and foolish, but I guess this is just the part of the politics of modern day huge companies.

ME AND DA BOYZ KONSIDER DIS HERESY, telling ork players that we cant scratchbuild, kitbash, and trashbash is RACIST
@loltwest942317 сағат бұрын
Banning kitbashes for GW parts in their own event is just antithetical the whole spirit of the thing. It's meant to celebrate the hobby and you're going to penalize participates for being so committed and loving your products so much as to find new and creative ways to use them?

I set the playback speed to 0.25 and paused for every Patreon listed and I'm not on there. 😕

Not a fan of the rules change. I don’t like kit bashes or conversions.

Unless you are a tournament player sod GW and all their nonsense and play OPR instead. Build what you want, push them around a table on a unit activation basis and roll Tzeenths cubes of disappointment to your hearts content!

Wargame Portal straight up sucks. Dont order from them
@jeffrobagman283410 сағат бұрын
Never had a problem with them. Everything I've ordered through their website was delivered promptly, in excellent condition. I had to wait for restock on a couple items, but those were clearly marked as such before I paid them, can't complain there.
