At the end of their cover of "Carry on My Wayward Son" Dave yells "Sheer brilliance!" Lemme tell ya, THIS song really is sheer brilliance. If GWAR! is about punk, and punk is about creative musical destruction then THIS song is totally brilliant. Think about it. If they had just taken an 80s commercial corporate hit like "Get into my Car" and destroyed it that would have been enough. But they folded in "Baba O'Reilly" at the end and no kidding demonstrated exactly how rechewed, retread, remade and repackaged music really is! You think no two songs could be more different than "Get into My Car" and the truly pioneering, ground breaking, original and creative "Baba O'Reilly"? Think again! Billy Ocean borrowed the crumbs of a brilliant vibe in an original song and crapped out a brain dead commercial hit. GWAR! and Dave Brockie shed some light and shined it on the truth!
@digitaldeathsquid344810 жыл бұрын
well, several bands have gone on fine with new frontmen. Van Halen, Judas Priest, Dream Theater, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple etc. GWAR may end up bringing in a new character altogether. When Corey Smoot (Flattus Maximus) died, they retired Flattus and brought in a new character, Pustulus Maximus. I'd like to see what a new frontman could do for GWAR, although nobody could replace Dave Brockie, because nobody else IS Dave Brockie.
