To me, this feels like a perfect take down of the late eighties, early nineties sensitive hair metal ballad. If you listen to the lyrics, it's like Guns n Roses type backstage drama. They just did it GWAR style.
@liamsanchezgoestovegas Жыл бұрын
Exactly. The acoustic intro with the finger snapping and whistle is absolutely a jab at GnR’s “Patience”. Beefcake’s high pitched vocals on the chorus are part of it too. Apparently only about 12 of us get that.
@cullenarthur8879 Жыл бұрын
@@liamsanchezgoestovegas yep! Oderus even does the little Axle dance when he's doing the whistling part. It's definitely a jab at "Patience". The part where he said "I said I'd do the show, then I cancelled anyway" may have been a reference to Axles notorious tendency to cancel shows when he didn't feel like performing.

You know what's so strange about this? I had a full detailed dream of this song on a Beavis and Butthead episode before I had ever actually seen it, never even heard of Gwar before either. I saw the word *_"Gwar"_* in the dream and I was trying to see the name of the song in the dream but then I have no memory after that. In the dream I distinctly remember making a comment to myself, *"such a mellow song for such a heavy band such as this".* A week later I woke up at 2AM and so I thought I would go into the living room and watch some TV and there it was on Beavis and Butthead, which triggered the memory of the dream, I watched it all the way up to the point where I read Gwar in the dream and then the show finished it for me and I finally saw the name of the song, which my dream did not provide. I was only a kid but the memory of it is so strong that I remember it to this day. Any connection here?
@HumanBeanbag18 күн бұрын
That's crazy that you slept an entire week.
@debunkified16 күн бұрын
@@HumanBeanbag lol, funny. Actually I was wide awake the day before and night before I went to sleep because I was still in high school. Used to sneak out a lot and do a bunch of weird stuff with a friend. It’s crazy because the exact thing I thought to myself in the dream when I was watching it in my dream was that it was strange that it was an acoustical soft song yet they were all dressed up in those spiked costumes like a typical heavy metal band. When I was watching it in reality I though the exact same thing and thought to myself, that’s strange how it’s a soft acoustical song yet they are dressed up in those costumes with metal spikes with the heavy metal look. Then it dawned on me that I had already done that and remembered the dream. The episode finished the album name for me and that’s how I knew for sure I dreamed it. In the dream it just said Gwar. In reality not only did it say Gwar but the album name as well ‘America must be……” It’s trippy watching all the Gwar images in a dream, I mean it was spot on too.

First song I thought about when I heard Dave Brockie had passed on. He's on that Road Behind.... Might even cover this in tribute to him. They were definitely one of my first favorite bands. I still remember seeing one of their videos for the first time when I was probably 13 or 14 and I was so traumatized (in a good way) and amazed that I had to buy every CD by them that I could find. They were like the holy grail for a kid at my age. They talked about gross and fd up shit and funny shit and even love, lol. They made all their own costumes and they created big epic stories and big epic dongs to go along with it. They were from space and they were probably one of the best bands of all time. This should be the end of GWAR. There is no GWAR without Dave Brockie. Aw hell, you will be missed my friend. RIP bro.
