Vortex has a great voice and he has been taking some criticism which isn't fair in my opinion, so thanks for this video. He has a wide range of styles that suites Arcturus very good. That being said I still think Rygg is untouchable. The Sham Mirrors could very well be the best album ever made.

I honestly prefer Garm. Vortex's voice sounds like an angel, a creepy dark one, but his voice is simply beautiful. Garm, in the other hand can do amazing growls but still has nice clean vocals. They sound so "folk-ish", I don't know what it is but the tone of his voice makes me love him so much.

I didn't know that when I made this comment back then, but I've listened to Vortex's two sides by now. Gotta say, he's good, but I think his clean vocals fit him better. Garm, in the other hand, he has a "smooth" transition when going clean to growl. At least this is my opinion, but can't deny I love both! They're so freaking amazing.

Vortex is a truly talented vocalist and bassist. On one of the Arcturus clips, he reminds me a lot of Roger Waters, another talented bassist/vocalist. The others I would rank in the top bassist/vocalists are Lemmy and the late great Peter Steele.

My whole point is that I think that Vortex, as a singer, doesn't convey enough strenght to support the whole thing. I'm not a hater, it's just that something just doesn't work when his vocals kick in. Of course, as I said in my first post, that's my personal opinion.
