GWater2 - Depth (1 / 2)

In this video I am showcasing an attempt at depth by rendering the particles 2 times, with the second pass using an additive texture. It is not fully implemented yet so you can see where the triangles are but the basic idea is there. Later on I will properly implement beers law which should yield a really nice effect.

I'm more concerned about Lua, the scripting language which Garry's Mod works off of, and how unoptimized it makes the engine at times.

We really went this far for modding a 2004 source engine game. It's amazing.

the source engine despite its flaws has aged incredibly well, it doesen't even look that old. the art direction of source engine has aged pretty decent, it seems like a nice mid range of detail, everything is clear what it is but it isint as graphically detailed as modern games but designs of props and stuff still do a very good job of representing the object, the furniture in CS:S for instance is a bit low poly but you can still see the designs and details on the furniture, they actually do look like lots of 1990s era furniture designs with the nice orange wood and the office tables are pretty close to some i had in my house growing up

@domehead6422 eh, its more than just modern capabilites that determine something aging well, the fact that people put up with all its limitations years later and so many people still give a shit about it, the fact that its still culturally relevant and that people make all this new groundbreaking shit thought impossible in the engine all these years later, its still entertaining, thats also a pretty big part of aging well is the fact to gain attention 20 years after its release. and even when it shows it age even more as time goes on its still culturally significant enough that people will remember and still give a shit about, it like old movies or books or mediums people will remember it fondly, even if there's better modern engines the source engine is going to be remembered when a good chunk of them has been forgotten i imagine rockstars modern rage engine will age pretty well too. gta 6 is still probably gonna fun as hell in 2050, same with IV, although it does show heavy limits, the hammer map limit size sucks

Goddamn, and here I thought your current water visuals would already suffice; you just keep knocking it out of the park, because this is way better. This actually heavily resembles the water particles found in nVidia's and other graphics cards' companies fluid simulation demos over the years. With these visuals, you can now recreate them, Slime Time Live, Uh-Oh! (Canadians will know what I'm talking about), and so on in GMOD. Also, I think it's time for a video recreating the AVGN drowning in beer meme; keep it up.

I'd suggest applying a very small, eventually fading paint decal, it could work with that.
