In Gwen's champion insight, Isolde apparently always dreamed of "marrying the prince" of Camavor and wanted to live a life of royalty. Honestly, I believe Viego and Isolde had their own motives for marrying each other. Viego was captivated by her beauty and wanted to marry her. Isolde saw her opportunity to rise from the slums to a privileged life in the castle(something she always dreamt of). However, I think they both found some sort of happiness with each other during a short amount of time (we all know Viego spent all his time being with her).

i feel like it's more likely that Gwen would not forgiven viego for what he did to Isolde, rather than being a bad king. because when Isolde died, Gwen was still just a puppet. but the hallowed missed (or whatever it was) brought her to life, so i think it's fair to assume that she would most likely know about what viego directly did to isolde in the blessed isles, rather than indirectly, in his kingdom. edit: 14:30 aaaaaand that is a good point...

i think viego obsessed with isolde is not because he loves her but he wants to have a complete control of the hallowed mist. and because of that when isolde dies she breaks her souls into pieces of fragments. so what viego really after is isolde power to control hallowed mist. and why is viego wants to bring back isolde is because he can take her power when she's alive. i don't know anymore this is just my theory
