@@justabruin its not the same as Gwen’s solo style, though. And I’m pretty interested in hearing how the song evolved from this to the No Doubt rework, so I’m guessing the Sweet Escape version was kind of an in between.

This makes so much sense to me. I always thought Sparkle had an old school quality to it that made it better and closer to classic no doubt then the rest of the album. And its because its from the early 2000s and not 2012 lol

During No Doubt's Singles Tour in 2004 Gwen woud dedicate "Dont Speak" to Eric Stefani every night and usually not without tears. Something must have been going on during thet time and Eric has sort of become a recluse of sorts. She would always say Eric was the one with the magic and sparkle or gift that infused No Doubt. No question, this song is for him.

I’ve been friends on FB with Eric since pretty much the start of FB and he’s always seemed pretty active over the years. He works on sketches and all that and shares a lot of pics. He’s a really good guy, my friend is friends with him.

I never liked the “never ever ever ever gonna be the same” from the ND version. But I liked the music to it better. Wish they could merge the two.

Yeah I agree, the “never ever” part is a product of Push and Shoves style, which was waaay too much for me. I wish they at least did an acoustic version like they did with settle down and one more summer.
