I have to admit one of the things I love about the Brienne character is her _proper armour_ . _Real_ armour on a woman, in a fantasy story, not some stupid biniki/full-of-holes crap. Awesome.

João Rita That is what actually motivated author George R. R. Martin to write Brienne of Tarth’s character. He loved Xena but he found it ridiculous that she fights in a bikini. He created Brienne with that in mind

Actually Xena's original armour isn't that bad, her "armour" is a slightly modified version of greek armour, like Wonder Woman's (as long as you ignore blatant boob armour and lack of shoulders...). But stuff like Red Sonja, or any of the many B-movies around... and in comics...

If you're gonna insult "boob armor", gotta insult the creators of "300" for having the spartans fight in red capes and brown furry briefs. I think Wonder Woman did it best. It's OK for both men and women to fight in something that's practical in battle and shows off their physical attributes. My bigger gripe is when they depict women with zero muscle tone as "warriors".
