Why do you say wrong sides together? Isn't it right sides together if you are flipping it?

@@enchantedocelotgaming7520 Oh DANGGGGGG you're absolutely right. It's supposed to be RIGHT SIDES together because we flip it out. Thank you for flagging it!!! Pinning your comment so people will see it too xxx 💗

My 92 year old Grandmother just gifted me her fabric stash (which she's been saving since the 50's!) and amid all the scraps I found an unfinished midi skirt. She had already made the waistband, hemmed it, and added both a zipper and pockets, so all I have to do is sew the waistband on. Watching this tutorial gave me the idea to turn it into a pinafore dress too! She had quite a bit of the same fabric left over, so I'll be able to make it out of the same material :) I can't wait to show her the finished product!

I like the cat shape pocket idea. I also love how you talk about modifications that can be made, its inspiring. I've seen someone with a tip about snap on. They put chalk on the protruding ends and squished it on the other fabric. Basically what you did but used chalk to make the dent more visible.

Wow, that's a fantastic tutorial and you explained everything so clearly! I just have one question and that's would it be possible to make the detachable bib for a full circle skirt? I don't see why it wouldn't but I figured there is no harm in asking.
@gwenheng2 жыл бұрын
You can add this detachable pinafore to anything!! Even shorts!!! As long as they have a side zipper so this same pinafore bib design will still work. And if your bottom (skirt/pants/shorts) isn’t high-waisted then the measurements have to be taken accordingly from the waist ✨✨✨

GWEN THIS WAS SO GOOD🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank you im going to make one. Do you have any advice for working with really this fabric? I want to make a heavy woolen skirt
@gwenheng Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! 😚 Hmm I’ve never made one in heavy wool but from what I know, I think the important thing would be to really let the skirt hang and the bias fall, then trim and even out the hem. Good luck with making one!! Can’t wait to see your version 💗

Yes I made the blouse! 🥰 I drafted the pattern but the design is based on a vintage pattern. Here’s my sewing process: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWLRlpWbarSea5o Hope it’s helpful!!

This is so helpful! I’m a beginner sewer making a pinafore dress for a costume and this is going to be so helpful. One question; I want to add buttons to the middle of my bib so it buttons up in the front. How would I go about measuring to allow for that? Great video, I can’t wait to watch what else you have!! :-)
@gwenheng2 жыл бұрын
Yay! Well it depends on whether you want functional buttons or just the ~look~ of buttons in the middle?? If you want functional buttons, then you'll have to split the square in the middle, then add some allowance next to it for the buttons. Kinda like how the fabric overlaps in the middle of a button-front shirt! x

How do I make the skirt shorter
@gwenheng3 жыл бұрын
Great question! If you are thinking about making the half circle skirt like the one featured in this video, check out my earlier *half circle skirt sewing tutorial* : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rom7Z3yAr72Mos0. There's a part where I talk about taking measurements of your body to decide the *skirt length* . Use a *_shorter skirt length_* if you want the skirt shorter! Hope this helps! ☺
@FranciscaPires Жыл бұрын
i would rather use hooks and eyes to attach the bib to the skirt because i've always have issues with opening snaps without damaging the fabric unless it's a super heavy fabric
@gwenheng Жыл бұрын
That’s definitely another option! Personally, I have sewn snaps on fabrics without much damage to the fabric. Some vintage designs I’ve worked with even have side snap closures rather than side zippers! I just love snaps 😁😄
@afsawafsaw17152 жыл бұрын
Which fabric are you using?
@gwenheng2 жыл бұрын
I used a thrifted bedsheet. So it’s kind of like a polycotton poplin fabric.
