Arguably Gwenpool *is* a buff. If she's strong enough to make buffing your hand/deck a thing worth building around, they might start seeing more play, along with America Chavez.

Tbf I think both Okoye and Nakia will work really well with Gwenpool since Gwenpool will probably preform the best in an handbuff list and she doesn't disrupt the curve which is also great. But your argument is correct, I think at least a stat buff to Nakia will be highly appreciated.

My guess would be that she can't drain cards that don't have power, so a Rock won't go to -1 because there's no power to drain, so she won't necessarily power up Darkhawk quite that much (but could tell you how many rocks they have drawn).

Love the hand buff. I want more cards that benefit from it now cause I want to play Chavez Okoye and Nakia! Maybe just Gwenpool wil be enough to make them worth it in surfer alongside brood, sinister, Shaw, and patriot.

From the way I read Ajax, it doesn't say "for each OTHER" card like Blue Marvel, so technically he should be essentially immune to Hazmat, receiving the -1 but buffing himself +1 for 0. Probably doesn't matter much but it's nice I guess.

I wonder if "drain" is as you said but with a minimum of zero. That would limit her synergy with the Darkhawk package and lower her own average stats a bit. She seems a little strong if it's just straight up lifesteal, but at the same time, it would suck if they prevented the most obvious natural synergy just for the sake of balance, which they could just do with numbers, so I'm probably wrong.

Copycat is a really interesting card for me, because your opponent also gets that info. I really hope it gets popular, it would introduce a whole new element of strategy, and be a pretty good card most of the time as well.

Hydra Bob's ability potentially makes him a less expensive, less reliable Captain Marvel, doesn't it? If you're winning one lane and losing two others at the end of the game, there's a chance he jumps to the other lane you're losing and adds enough power to win there. Or are we to assume his power doesn't apply after the last turn?

Gwenpool: I imagine SP card will be powerful, but now it feels like she competes for slots at 4 cost. Hopefully 8 power Broods are not coming :D Hydra Bob: Since Martyr almost never moves and still people don't play her, hard to get excited for now Ajax: Being able to play Ajax and Hazmat on same turn is gonna steal some cubes. I'm excited for affliction deck that does not build on Cage, too. Sage: I had her as my tip for placeholder text, but at 3 cost she seams like real card for little-stuff decks, I'm now hoping to get her.

I’ll be surprised if Gwenpool isn’t overpowered if it gets released as is. 4/12 spread across multiple cards , most of which you get to play later is really strong. There’s a chance that you get stats on a card that you don’t end up playing but you can build your deck so that you always play out your cards and there’s also a chance that you buff stuff like mysterio which triple the buffs it gets.

I wonder if Copycat will reveal the stolen text box to your opponent right away, or if they only find out once you play her. Gladiator feels like a pretty solid comparison at face value - you lose 3 points of power, but they don't get On-Reveals and you can't low roll into a hulk. If she keeps the stolen card text hidden, I think she'll be really lowkey powerful - kinda like how Iceman/Korg/etc. can cause a lot of disruption without being obvious.

I think given the fact it happens when it's drawn implies it won't reveal to the opponent. Way I think about it is, this cards reason for existence is to let you know if they are going to get their power card or not. If it showed it upon reveal not only would it let the opponent in on it, it also shows them your draw that turn. Basically what I'm trying to say is, if it reveals to the opponent what it takes the card winds up hurting you more than the opponent.

It has to be revealed when she is drawn. Its changing a card in your oponents deck. Imagine some casual player (your opponent) does not own Copycat so he is not familiar with it. You draw your copy, steal text of their card. Then some efect in game shuffles your oponents deck and they draw their own card but for some reason it does not have abilities? They would be so confused and there would be so many players reporting bugs. They must be informed why and when their card changed.

@@janforst7169 Players are informed by the sheer knowledge that new cards are added to the game. It's not your opponent's fault if you aren't aware of what all other cards' powers are. I'd rather the card work stealthily. If it tells the opponent what card text was stolen, it lowers the power of Copycat to grant you info your opponent doesn't have. It's actually beneficial then to your opponent, who would not only have knowledge of what they WON'T be getting, but also the fact that YOU have it. Most of the time, your opponent would never know anything was stolen unless you play the card since it's at the bottom.

@@jonblanchard3949 Its a game fault if something happens to player card in game and they are not informed about it. Game designer can't ever assume every player will know every ability of every card in game (even cards player does not own). If Copycat will not show what happened, it will create confusing interactions for players and confusing game is a game players will quit. It will be a extremly bad design for gameplay, it does not matter what is balanced in power. And its not just about draw. You have Jubilee, Lockjaw, you have shuffle efects, you have Iron Lad,... It will be plenty of time, you will see the texless card and wonder what happened.

@@janforst7169 I certainly see the point you are making but I feel there are ways around all of those pain points already implemented in the game. By the time players get to collection levels/mmrs to be seeing this card they will already have been introduced to things like Triskelion, which flat out completely change your deck. To a lesser extent, Cable is a series 2 card, and he steals a card from your opponents deck. Not even to mention Yondu, one of the first cards you get. Players should know their deck is not off the table by the time they could see Copycat. As well, you can see any changes made to a card by double clicking or tapping them. It let's you see the changes made to the cards. Assuming Red Guardian shows up there, it should show Copycat too if Copycat affected a card, even if it was in the deck. Finally, think about it from a mechanical perspective if this card revealed to your opponent it did its thing. Player draws Copycat, it shows the card whose text it stole in the interaction. Bear in mind in a regular game of snap, most players aren't seeing the bottom card of their deck. So, the player who drew Copycat, drew her to then take an effect from the opponent that likely won't be relevant (in the most literal sense,usually the bottom card isn't played or drawn) and revealed what card they drew that turn to their opponent in exchange. All while letting them know "hey that card you need to finish the game? Yeah it's not at the bottom, you're gonna draw it this game good job". I think that's pretty clear why that would be god awful. You'd be better off not drawing that turn in many cases, at which point, wtf is Copycat doing in your deck. This card is designed to give players Snap equity, by helping players figure out if their opponent has their power cards or not. It fundamentally can't do that if it reveals itself to the opponent when drawn.

I kind of hope that they change Gwenpool significantly, not because she’s a bad design, but as a character in Marvel she’s 100% aware of the fact that she’s in a comic, so I’d love to see her have a crazy 4th wall breaking ability of some kind

Her effect kinda resembles what she did in the comics though, she would go up to random heroes and would purposefully put them through shenanigans for her amusement. That's reflecting on her picking random cards in your hand and boosting them.

I don't think Hydra Bob's ability is a downside at all. Silk's movement can be from winning position to loosing one, but Bob's move will always make your position same or better, never worse.

Based on the card text we have, you are correct. However "drain" in gaming usually means taking something from the opponent and gaining it in return. Also, scorpion would do the same thing, but it doesn't use the word "drain"

@@DrDisemb0wel my issue with interpreting "drain" as such is that there is no mention *where* the Power would be drained to, which is something any card text in Snap is very explicit about. [edit] okay, seems I might've been to entirely correct about this one, and now I see "drain" working as other people say with a higher probability.

I feel that if Drain is truly a different keyword (as opposed to just flavor text like with Zemo), i would be more inclined to think it means take one power point off only if current power is >0

If she didn't take the power then I'd be led to believe they would use the term "afflict". Drain looks to be and entirely new 'keyword'.
