How To Commercially Rear Queen Honey Bees With Border Honey

In this video I spend the day with Border Honey. A Bee and Honey Farm based in North Wales on the Welsh and English border.
Border Honey is a bulk honey supplier, supplying several tons of honey a year. On top of that they produce nucs as well. But they have also specialised in Queen Bee Rearing. They rear thousands of Queen Bees a year.
Border Honey uses some of the best Buckfast lines available in the EU. Their breeding stock comes from one of Europe's leading Buckfast breeders, Ivan Nielsen, based in Denmark. They then raise and mate F1 queens in the UK, the queens they sell are the same queens they use in their own honey production hives.
Danish Buckfast has for years been known as one of the best buckfast lines available. Highly sort after by Bee farmers for having the below charecteristics.
Good temperament
Low swarming tendency
Superb honey gathering ability
Resistance to disease
In this video Border Honey shows me their queen rearing operation and teaches me how they do it at a commercial level. I was very impressed with what I saw.
